Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

It was a good article.......finally something positive that can be backed up with numbers and results instead of fluffy Whitehead quotes........;)
Numbers are Numbers....go to the games..see the break-downs on the power-play....endless turnovers by the pointmen...turns into odd man break ins on the penalty-kill by the oppsing team...just in the Vermont game alone there was at least 3 and only Darling making the save did that game turn into a win for UM...the power-play has had its UP's..But it also has had some downs and against teams that can finish you'll see UMaine again up there again giving up 12-14 short-handed goals for a season...short-handed goals can be backbreakers.

27%, what else do you want. I see what you're talking about and I was disappointed to the see the 5 man weave above the dots in the 2nd period last weekend but in the 3rd they went back inside.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

The voters forgot one of the HE teams in this week's poll.

And look who's in the top 10, Nebraska Omaha. Now, who's their coach again? What was he doing prior to them hiring him?

Trying NOT be negative...just the point is a concern on the PP.

He has forwards up there, they're going to be agressive and turnovers are going to happen

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Who would have thought that we would be in the 1st week of November and every team in HE would be receiving votes in the national poll except Maine! :(

TIMMAY!

The pollsters do drugs. The only thing they got right was not to give Maine a vote.

So the question is, why does TIMMAY always need to have forwards at the point on the PP? I would think O'Neill and either Van Dyk, Dimmen or Hegarty ought to be up to the task.

After last years 13 % I'm not going to question his PP except the 5 man weave above the dots that generates nothing

Either that, or strength of schedule means nothing to them. :p
UNO in the Top 10 is heavily weighted towards the coach, not the team, at this point in the season, IMO.
Their last 10 games will show their mettle.

That being said, Blais will have the program running full steam ahead in a few years.

Last years power play was 18% and +11 special teams. I think you are thinking of 07-08

He is putting forwards at point because Spencer Abbott has a mean shot.

O'Neill is excellent at the point on the PP. Very smart with the puck.....watch him...he will take some chances, but no risk, no reward.

Whatever, 18% isn't exactly sparkling

That jumped out at me, too.

I think it's like Blutarski's Peal Harbor speech in Animal House. Ya gotta let the guy roll with it..
