Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

The football team will host either Lafyette (go Leopards!) or UHN on December 7 at 2PM. The hockey game vs Lowell has been rescheduled to 730 that night. To alleviate parking, I have suggested the University team up with the Black Bear Inn and Academic Suites to have some shuttle buses to get people to campus because I have a feeling parking will be a nightmare. It will also be a nice bonus for fans. The whole campus will be under a microscope with NCAA people and reporters, fans etc who have never been here before. It would be nice to show them we aren't a bunch of hicks.

The ticket site now lists the hockey game vs Lowell as 12/6 at 7:30 PM

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Good, would have been long day going to both games

Sucks for the band though. They had scheduled their banquet for Friday. Also for parents and fans. Luckily I saw this coming and changed my reservation to include Friday but there are only three rooms left at my hotel and I know three sets of parents are booked there Saturday night. Going to create headaches for them. Hopefully there's enough lead time so people can plan accordingly.

Football gets 5 seed, will host winner of Lafayette at UNH.

Seems to me that the FCS tournament has been seeded (for several years now) in such a way as to ensure that CAA teams are aligned to eliminate each other ASAP.

Is this the same sort of NCAA institutional-strategy as it employs in D-1 hockey, in order to avoid late-round PS intra-conference games?

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Isn't it pretty inspiring to see coaches on the bench talking to the players, and pointing out stuff that's going on, and how they can correct what they're doing, or find ways around what the other team is doing? You know, coaching. Like they give an eff about what's happening on the ice. And doing it right then and there, when it might be able to affect the outcome of the game.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Jazzed to see Maine kicking butt this season. I've been able to watch a few games and the Black Bears look awesome!

It looks like the first round is designed to minimize travel, exclusively. That obviously results in conferences feeding on their own. Actual CAA seeds ME and Towson can't meet until the final. Assuming UNH wins, it WOULD have been nice to send them somewhere else, but perhaps at that point the committee was maintaining "bracket integrity" that we ***** so much about in March. Hard to know without a "simple math" tool like pairwise to figure out who is really ranked where.

Like that for everyone. Could be second round matchups that are Southland-Southland (Sam Houston vs. #4 Southeastern Louisiana), OVC-OVC (Tennessee State vs. #2 Eastern Illinois) and Big Sky-Big Sky (#3 Eastern Washington-Northern Arizona).

It's regionalization. If Maine had beat UNH, they likely would have been a higher seed, but their bracket would have been identical (well, maybe UNH wouldn't have made it so it would have been Lafayette-William and Mary).

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I was just told the game vs Lowell has not been officially changed. However, I bought a ticket last night and it very clearly is for 12/6 at 7:30. Draw your own conclusions.

My season ticket says Saturday, December 07,2013, 7:30 PM. By the way, I just bought my football ticket.:)

You bought your season ticket a few months before the football team had a home game scheduled for the same day. :)
I bought my football ticket and tickets to the Lowell, UHN and Providence games at 12:03 this morning.

Gold star, you can haz it.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I was politely pointing out that if your ticket says 12/6 you will be there alone to watch UML play Maine.

Attendance isn't THAT bad! :p

I was pointing out that the athletics department changed the game to Friday because of the conflict with the football game. TPTB are still claiming it is hasn't happened but they were selling tickets saying it has. They have since changed the website back so it would appear to be still undecided. Wayne Smith pointed out that there is an event on campus Friday night which will once again make parking a headache. They should keep the game on Saturday, push it to 8:00 and have shuttles to help with parking. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the clarification, I think.:D:confused: I agree, keep it on Saturday.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

In the latest poll Maine picked up 9 votes. BU has 14 votes, and BC stayed where it was from last week as the 7th place team. Good thing polls are scientific and not political.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Decision still has not been made about when the game will be. The ticket office was apparently telling people who were buying football tickets the hockey game was moved to Friday, but it seems someone set them straight.
