Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

They sure did, but I was referring to the two games at the Mullin's, not that I made that clear at all.

Saw both games this past weekend and there was definite improvement over the two I saw at SLU. We've decided to go to Amherst on Friday as a result, but this team is still a work in progress, and I'm not counting my chickens just yet... If UMass plays Wakaluk both nights it might be a long weekend for Maine; he looked very good on Friday in Orono.

PS: Am I the only one on here who thinks Byron is as close to a blue-chippa as Maine has right now..? I love his game so far.
Wakaluk played Saturday and ONLY two periods.

Positive overall results for the weekend, have to like 2 wins. The team still has a lot of things to work on for sure, but I liked what I saw overall from the Freshman and given some time we will see some lines gel a little more.

Mark Anthoine was named Hockey East Player of the Week after scoring 3 goals and 2 assists vs UMA. Also, Maine received votes in the (irrelevant) poll; I am still trying to calculate where Maine is in the new PairWise system. I think 27th but will have to check that. "Simple Math" is no more.

Weird. Why is Fish getting credit for my quote about Hutton, Shore and Byron? Not that I care but I've never seen that before......

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Have the updated files and Maine is now 23rd in the pairwise, up from 25. The new #1 is Providence.

Other Hockey East teams:
#8 - Notre Dame
#14 - Northeastern
#18 - Boston College
#20 - Vermont
#28 - New Hampshire
#29 - Lowell
#36 - Boston University
#47 - Merrimack
#48 - UMass

Denver is sitting at #40.

Still insanely early but worth keeping track of how much the list changes week to week with the new criteria.

Thanks for the link.

Morgan and (to a lesser extent) Brown appear to have some tools, but Byron creates his own shot far better than the first two do, IMO. He plays so much bigger than his listed 165 lbs., and he knows his way around the slot.

Might be that I'm getting a little carried-away on the basis of my four games seen, but I'm thinking that he's good enough already to warrant some concern about an early departure prior to his senior year... I really like his instincts and his nose for the net.

It's very early yet, but, in any case, it's nice to see that Tim left Maine with some (potential) parting gifts. This team might finish over .500 after all, if they quit taking vacations mid-game.

I noticed Maine got some votes this week after the weekend sweep. Also wanted to point out that this Maine team has scored 16 goals through 5 games and is 3-0 at the Alfond (4-0 if you count the Dalhousie game)...Not sure the actual statistics from last year but this start is on another level.
