Would that be maybe some adjustments made in the locker room between periods?
or red went in and busted a half dozen composites and told them to pull their heads out of their posteriors....
Maine football beats Villanova, wow
It looks like the last time Maine scored 6 in a period was November 15, 2002 against Northeastern, but I'll check that tomorrow.
Planning to drive over to see Friday's game... And, just as I did v. SLU, I'm hoping for a split, but won't be surprised by a UMass sweep.
Well Fish, .....Maine sweeps a decent UMass team at Alfond. A lot of positives (Freshmen/ 8 goals in a game/ speed & stamina) and plenty to work on (soft goals allowed by Marty/ inconsistency from period to period/ PP etc). This is a major shift in every way from a year ago. It ain't gonna happen overnight, but it's gonna happen.
D-1 hockey has been anything but predictable so far in this young season. #2 Wisconsin comes East and gets creamed by BC then BU - lets in 16 goals in 2 nights. #1 UML has a terrible start and drops to #19. UMass sweeps Mich State. Mich State beats BU who last weekend smoked Wisconsin. Providence beats and ties Miami. Maine sweeps UMass. None of this means a lot yet, but we weren't having this conversation last year at this time. We were screaming for Whitehead's head. And we got it. Momentum is a very powerful thing. Can't you feel it?
Red was a great choice, doesn't have a loaded roster, and is going to develop more out of these players in his first season than one would ever expect. Will they win Hockey East? Probably not. Will they make the NCAA tourney? Probably not. Will they crawl out of the 300' deep abyss that Whitehead took them down? Already well underway.
And not for nothin' but Denver ain't exactly lighting it up so far either. Monty, Monty, Monty......
Greg Moore scored one of the best goals one of the best goals I've ever seen from a Maine player that period. He went coast to coast then roofed one. Does anyone else remember this? It was before the days when games were streamed online and I doubt a lot of Maine fans have ever even seen it, which is too bad.

They sure did, but I was referring to the two games at the Mullin's, not that I made that clear at all.
Saw both games this past weekend and there was definite improvement over the two I saw at SLU. We've decided to go to Amherst on Friday as a result, but this team is still a work in progress, and I'm not counting my chickens just yet... If UMass plays Wakaluk both nights it might be a long weekend for Maine; he looked very good on Friday in Orono.
PS: Am I the only one on here who thinks Byron is as close to a blue-chippa as Maine has right now..? I love his game so far.
Wakaluk played Saturday and ONLY two periods. They sure did, but I was referring to the two games at the Mullin's, not that I made that clear at all.
