Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

FYI: The home game against New Hampshire that was scheduled for Sunday, January 26 has been changed to Saturday, January 25 at 7PM so it can be televised on FCS-Atlantic and Fox 22.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Ray Jean, who was Maine's third goalie for two years before he transferred to Bentley, is the volunteer assistant (goalie) coach.

If only he would have been four or five years younger. I think Maine is extremely lucky to get him.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

no idea. my guess is that Racine, who I think had a full-time job in addition to his goalie school, did have enough time in the day or week to make the position work. Add to that the fact that it's a volunteer position, and he didn't have direct ties to UMaine, that the negatives wound up outweighing the positives. That's purely speculation, however.

Gendron on the PM Jab tonight confirmed it was because he got a promotion at his "real job."

He did note that Ray Jean had applied when the position was originally being filled.

Anyone going to Amherst on Friday, besides us?

I don't really foresee a Maine win there after watching them crumble on the road in Canton, but ya never know, they might have toughened-up a bit in the meantime... This thing is going to take time.

It's nice to actually consider the drive worthwhile for a change, however... The Timmy-buyout has really changed my perspective on this program.

crazy what a logical move in the right direction can do for a program. men's bball should take the same approach.

This isn't an endorsement of Woodard, but I think it is apples and oranges comparing the hockey situation to the bball situation. Maine has never even won a conference championship in bball. Maybe when one of the two NBA coaches who are from Maine are done they can take the program over.

Not running your best players out of town every year is a good start, though.

Big weekend to see where the team is. Get a couple of points down there after the sweep up here, things will be looking up
