Totally agree. Sully broke a 9 year old record held by Howard. Played another great game tonight. If he stays hot and the team play like they did tonight, we can play anyone anywhere and beat them...PERIOD.

Kinda makes you wonder where that team has been all season, right? Outside of the UND and BC games, largely missing in action.

It's a shame it seems to take Whitehead coached teams until they have their backs against the wall to finally play up to their potential, but that's the way it seems, every season.

only one of the three BC games,the most recent one up there, the other two at BC they didn't show up. thanks for the sweep BTW

You gotta wonder. Without knowing exactly, it'd be great to find out exactly what the reson is, why they can play this well now after being so horrible at times this season. I can't believe(although it's possible) that it's because TIMMAY is taking a hands-off approach, I mean he'd be basically admitting he's useless. And if that's the reason, then why doesn't he just do it all season long?

But sure would be nice to know exactly what's going on with this team over the Whitehead years.

Benedetto is just looking for anything to call at this point. Its unreal really. Joey may have a rep but if Shawn were alive he'd be chewing Bertagna a new one the way Joey is getting treated, Timmay probably won't even demand Bigos get more games for the worst cheap shot you ever seen

Timmay still sucks, he left the team alone and they did what they did. Folks were out side passing out fire Timmay pamphlets before the game, so yeah, Maine fans are back on board

I love the rule. How often does a team actually gain an advantage for more than a few seconds (if at all) on a delayed penalty and convert? I'd say rarely. What about a situation where its a breakaway and a guy is tripped down but still manages to score? They didn't gain any advantage from the infraction at all (and the penalty doesn't even go in the books). Its a NCAA rule not Hockey East, as far as I know, and I love it, along with the hybrid icing (when called correctly).

The penalty does still go in the books, it has to since it was called. Also, what's up with the hybrid icing? I thought the coaches voted against it this summer. Or are they just doing a one year trial period?

The good news: Maine is up to a tie for 15th in pairwise.

The bad news: UMass can help a little with common-opponents in hockey east, but they're not going to help that much.

The bad news, part 2: Maine has basically clinched 5th place. That means they're probably playing at Merrimack instead of at BU. Maine is within striking distance of flipping the comparison with BU. They're not going to flip the comparison against Merrimack unless Merrimack gets swept again weekend and torpedoes their RPI going into the quarters, and then gets swept AGAIN. By Maine again (you get the idea).

Maine could flip the BU comparison by winning 2 of 3 in the quarters. They'll need to sweep Meerimack again just to have a prayer.

I don't have time for a full what-if, but there may yet be a way to steal an at-large spot. Maine probably needs to at least make it to the HEA championship game, and it'll almost certainly require some key games out of conference to go the 'right' way. That's where it gets tricky -- and I don't have a ton of time today...

I don't think anyone want us to not make he NCAA's. I still think a coaching change is needed but still root for the team. This team was ranked 7th before the season started it should have never come down to us having to play lights out the rest of the way.

Also an FYI to my fellow man fans. Apparently its against board rules here to talk about how a certain college hockey program that borders our state has never won a mens ice hockey d1 national championship. The fans of this school can dish it out but can't take it back. These fans called maine fans and people of our state degrating names while I simply kept the conversations or arguments to on ice stuff only. Yet they reported me. I am back after a week suspension and still posting like the true champion that I am. Oh that that certain school I mentioned still have never won mens Ice Hockey Championship in divison one EVER

I also loved the 2002 hard luck story as the favorite wild cats were sent
home in the frozen four by an under dogg maine team. UNH was embaressed and
didn't play good and just gave up. Maybe it was...

The refs were atrocious in that bc game in 2001 I don't blame him for
gettig tossed. Also after the maine was allowed to be in the playoffs again
they did something UNH has never done by winning it...

Wally thanks for scanning that for those of us that can't be in Orono. Must say its in poor taste to do that on Senior Night in front of the families of the boys somw coming from Colorado, Minnesota, etc. I'm all for free speech but why couldn't it have been done Friday? Senior night should be about those five guys, period.

I agree, I think they wanted to do it friday, but if you'd have been up here you'd know why, it was by far the worst night of the year weather wise at my house, not 100% sure if it was that bad at Alfond but must have been close

I think its a misconception that any real Maine fan wants this or any team to tank. I've wanted them to go on a run all season long, I want them to win HE and get in the tourney, that has nothing to do with whether or not I think Tim is man for the job. I've enjoyed the heck out of watching the seniors play Jrs Sophs etc. I've been frustrated many times by them also but thats part of the game. I don't believe they've been put in the best position to succeed and thats where my real frustration lies.

Agree again. Just like last year this teams 1-2 extra wins from being an NCAA tournament team. I just hope it doesn't all go for naught at Mullins.
