Tim was proud of that line, saying I wouldn't want to play against them.
After the game he said it was their best line:D

If that was the best line, I wonder how awful the other lines looked against the blackhawks? :) Had heard Miami is big and fast...apparently so. Lets face it, this Maine team is 3 to 4 goals a game behind the level of a frozen four team most likely at this point. Up to the guys on the team to determine whether or not they want to step it up in the second half and see if they can make a run at an NCAA spot. Its all uphill at this point and up to them. I remain optimistic that they will do what needs to be done. If not, we simply fire Timmay!

Best line? Must have been their 3 shots on goal that sold that one.

Mangene can single handedly create crazy pressure on anyone and make those around him shine. I'm guessing that played a role in 'whatever' he saw.

And I'm sure he wouldn't want to play against them. Most nearing 50 D-3 alums wouldn't. What's his point? The team they were playing didn't seem to mind.

They clearly can't compete with a team like Miami who is certainly a top 5 team. Can they turn it up a notch, that remains to be seen. The one bright spot has been the play of Sully. Getting Dimmen back will help assuming he can play at his previous level. They may get home ice in HE, I see BU, BC and Unh ahead of them. An NCAA berth would be great, gets them some experience on the nat'l stage. Timmay ain't going anywhere no matter what happens.

The boyz are painting themselves into a corner unfortuneately. Right now, to get a shot at a berth I'm guessing they've got to split or sweep at UHN, beat BC at home and sweep BU at home....very tall orders. Especially given their dismal records against those teams recently. Not to mention not caving in to the weak sisters of HE. And, beat Cornell. I dont know, I guess I'm pretty disappointed with the way things are going recently....sure hope they are too and are willing to turn this thing around. Sure theres some key injuries, but you gotta overcome those, somehow. But ur right about Sullivan, he seems to be playing consistently solid between the pipes. They OUGHT to be able to work with that and use it to their benefit phercrissakes.

Tim says today in the BDN there will be a different lineup tonight with Ouellette in goal. Unusual for Tim to announce goal tender. Sounds like players getting benched also. I find it very frustrating listening to player comments like we "didn't beat them to the puck.....", from senior players. Another quote, "valuable lesson learned". How many times do they have to learn this lesson?:(

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

He's still 2nd on the team in scoring at over a point per game. Most people wouldn't consider that invisible.

His 61 points last year were over 39 games. Should he play 39 games at his current scoring pace, he'd have 48-49. Still better than Levs ever did, Moore ever did, etc. And they weren't 'invisible'.

I don't know if everyone was expecting a season that would rival Kariya the 1st's, but don't you think teams gameplan around shutting him down, specifically? He gets 'double covered' and is on pace for almost 50...despite...yes... having some dings.

I'd say he's fine on paper, and isn't any kind of expectation setback. It's the rest of the squad that needs to figure this thing out.

So.......is he injured or not?????????.........

Before everyone on here anoints Miami as the Second Coming........they have 5 losses (Ferris State, Alaska, Western Michigan) and 3 ties (Lake Superior, Ferris State, St. Cloud).

I would have thot this "valuable lesson" would have been learned in spades after the debacle with UHN . Maybe we either got a bad coach or a buncha stoopid hawkey players who cant learn.

Timmay needs to join them in the stands.

If they are the 2nd coming, Maine must be the 18th coming the way Miami laid the smack down on the Bears

Unfortunately, Maine seems to be THAT bad. :(

It's gonna be quite a dogfight between Maine, BU and Merrimack for 4th place and that final home ice spot in HE. If Maine comes in 5th......they are TOAST!

Come on, they aren't that bad. It was just one game. Is North Dakota as bad as the smack down Maine layed on them the first game?

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Well that's a big win. If Cornell can get points in the EZAC it might even help in the PWR. But seriously, as much as they should have blown that team's doors off, they battled and they got 2 points. It would've been easy to go into a shell and lose 2-1 and be snakebitten and then give a speech in the BDN about getting it back before it's too late. Instead, they actually bore down, got the tying goal and won the stinking game. So as discouraging as the weekend was up to the that point, I am encouraged by the fact that they got the result instead of just talking about it.

Look they're 9-5-4. They were 10-6-1 after Florida the last two seasons. This thing's going to be made or broken in the dog days of Hockey Easy play in Feb. If they end the season 2-11-1 like 08-09 and 2-6 like last year, it's a moot point. They're where they need to be right now; The difference needs to be made in improvement down the stretch. If that's possible with this core and under Tim's leadership is the question.

They're a 2nd-tier team at this point, but the 1st tier is composed of very few teams...I fully believe that they have the talent to make The Show, but another 2nd-half swoon-if it happens-means Maine needs to find a new coach.Somebody should be able to make some noise with this group of players.

This isn't October, Maine is a veteran team, they got spanked, its very disappointing. At the beginning of the year goaltending was the big question mark, Maine got it from Sully, they still laid an egg
