Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

they are a young TALENTED team
Have you seen this team play? Are you on Bath Salts? This is by far the least talented team at Maine since the Semler haydays and the record is certainly indicative of the talent. There is basically zero talent in the Soph-Sr classes the only hope is the Lomberg/Shore/Merchant line and Hutton on D, but they won't develop under the current coaching staff either.

0-5 at home while getting outscored by a 20-4 margin, that's unbelievable. So much for Friday's strong effort being the turning point of the season....

They are all grinders, 3rd or 4th line other than Joey.

Did u also go to bc the way JD did?

Let me ask you something, is every Maine hockey fan a graduate of the university? It's a retarded point even for your standards. If there were no subway alums as they're called, college hockey would be even more irrelevant than it already is in the grand scheme of things. Part of what made Maine hockey great was the fan support, many of which didn't go to the university.

Or could even spell mane :)

Ive seen every game and No I don't do drugs. I think you're leaving a few guys out.... Higgins, Leen Rutt, Ceratani... I also think trashing the boys when we all know they read this **** and especially now when they are desperately trying to get themselves together is not what a true "fan" does. We saw a sparkfl friday that proves under different leadership results would not be as bad as they are right now. Its painful to watch but lets not all throw salt in the wound...

Those guys might be decent, but they are not as good as the players on the other HE teams, plain and simple. Only a handful of guys on the current roster would ever have skated on a Shawn Walsh team and that would have been on the 4th line or as a 6th /7th D-man. You are dreaming if you think this team has good talent....

Is that Jim Montgomery?? And if so, just what are he and Grant doing out in Iowa (aside from winning titles etc.) instead of Orono????

Sorry I've been away for awhile, consider this my first (of likely many) Rip van Winkle moments ...

Not dreaming.... we have a coaching staff that straight up is not getting the most out of his players... they are defeated BEFORE every game.... enough with the put downs to these guys .... its seriously disgusting ... Shawn is gone.... and has been for a while.... let's look at the here and now and the future.... we have only seen small glimmers of what these kids can do individually and as a team.

The players don't need to read this stuff to realize they (team) suck. It sounds like you're comfortable with making the tourney one year, followed by a few rebuilding years prior to another potential tourney appearance.

No no... I'm bull**** about how the season is going.... and the players are very aware that this is not a good situation.
.. I just don't thinking it's. Productive to call out specific players and say the suck blah blah blah.... its not gonna help the team any get on track and pull some wins out this year

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Nothing said on here, positive or negative, has any impact on a hockey team.

Maine Hockey Today: Listless/minus any Passion/and beaten before they got beat...awful.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Have not posted in ages. Went to the game tonight, and we were pathetic. Hold that, we were dreadful. And we are going to continue to be lousy until we have the courage to make a change. Until then, we are stuck with this crap. Plain and simple, Timmay has got to be fired for this program to have any chance of a return to glory. Until then, we will be remodeling the basement.

When Whitehead's contract was extended three summers ago (2010?) he had just strung together the three worst consecutive seasons at UMaine since the final years of the Semler regime. Yet even those three seasons ('07/'08 thru '09/'10) were arguably better on the whole than Walshy's first three years at the helm. Since that extension, he has posted two winning seasons with progressively better records than the previous year. Sure, this season is off to a nightmarish start, but you gotta figure for a program that's for all intents and purposes only ever really had three (3) head coaches in its 35 year history, they are not trigger-happy, and are gonna let him at least finish out his full contract. Buying him out would be pretty expensive, and you'd have to pay his successor too. If he doesn't right the ship by Winter 2014, then I'm guessing you will probably get your wish at that point. But if he somehow gets the program back to the NCAA's in the next year or two, he might be signed up to a lifetime contract ... :D

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

How many years does Whitehead have left on his contract?
