Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

I worked in Raymond for five summers, and Pat's Pizza is by far more amazing than any strip club. I would cut off two of my fingers if they'd open one near Lowell.
Not nearly as good as Orono. They don't open one , someone pays for and opens a franchise

And the only one worth eating in is the one in Orono. The others aren't Pat's, as far as I'm concerned, they are merely pizza joints. A great case study on how NOT to do franchise agreements.

Who votes for the all rookie team? Coaches, Writers?

I've eaten at Hampden Pats and Ellsworth Pats many times in the past, they're alright but they aren't Orono

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Orono is the best, but last I checked they didn't offer Nachos and Portland does!

Downstairs Pats, barely any lights, TV sports on, 1 or 2 pizzas, dripping in grease and a lot of cold ones. It didnt get any better. I wanna say the pizzas were like 2 and a quarter.

Portland Pizza? >> Otto's, not Pats

I've only eaten at the Orono Pats, I cant imagine a better one could exist.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Baseball costs are only $165K/year with $650K/year in revenues. Not a whole lot to cut.

Edit: For comparison - It would take 30 years of baseball expenses to equal one season of football expenses.

so clearly the cost of maintaining Mahahey Diamond is not on the baseball team and I am guessing the cost of maintaining the football field is not on the football team?

that sounds like creative accounting.. the way BC hockey always brings in exactly the the same amount the it costs

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

If York has significant/any input and doesn't mention Jim Montgomery (which he wouldn't), that doesn't make him an idiot. I don't agree with that at all.

you must spread some Reputation around before giving it to J.D. again

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

.......... Why doesn't having a guy who obliterated the league record for penalty minutes count against Whitehead as much as good grades counts for him? The kid was the captain and the face of the team, and he was an embarrassment.

I can't disagree with this. Diamond's behavior was both an embarassment to himself and the University. Really unfortunate that he is unable to control his emotions and received a game disqualification in his last college game. In fairness to Joey, he was targetted in many games because the opposing teams knew how he would react. In game two against UML, one of Bazin's strategies in the pre-game interview was to neutralize Diamond. It worked.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

yeah, I've eaten at the Auburn, Raymond, Portland, and Scarborough Pat's, and none of them are even close to Orono. The pizza's just greasier and tastier there. There's nothing like being in the downstairs at Pat's after a game.

Course, the pizza may not be quite the same in Orono, since old Pat is no longer around to add his secret ingredient to the sauce, the ash from his cigar.

3/4 of an inch of napkins placed on top of the pizza would be soaked thru. :D In high school we'd order, dbl dough, dbl cheese, dbl pep, dbl hamburger, you could run a TDI Jetta on the grease off that baby

You'd think a towel stuffed under the door would stop that bad air :D

Not many details, but I see that Kyle Beattie, Mike Cornell and Mark Nemec have signed pro contracts. Joey soon to follow. Good luck to them in the future, enjoyed watching them play at Alfond Arena.
