Call me crazy...I'm ready. Maine will some how squeek out a split. BC has a few injuries (who doesn't) but I think we can get a W. TW still needs to vanish though and program needs a facelift.

You are crazy.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

there were a lot of people laughing... you must remember the 5th goal.. Gionta did not even really shoot the puck, it just kinda rolled off his stick at about 5 mph and went in before the end of the period

I think that might have been the 3rd or 4th goal.

The 5th goal was a slapshot (off the wrong foot no less) coming down the left wing side after he collected the puck out of a scrum at the red line in front of the BC bench with about 7 seconds left in the period. It was a rocket and went into a top corner in a hurry. The whole thing was borderline absurd, especially considering that Maine was a very good team.

There is a clip of all 5 on youtube somewhere off a NJ Devils broadcast.

yep, I just looked it up. I had a memory of Gionta in an interview saying that he could do no worng that period

it was not just 5 goals, it was 5 goals on 5 shots.

this brings up my favorite hockey trivia question... Gretzky has a record for fewest shots on goal taken when scoring a hat trick... how many shots did Gretzky take?

one.
one goal shooting the puck on net
one intentionally displaced goal frame with Gretz in possession of the puck right at th goal mouth leading to an awarded goal... and then a turnover by gretzky to a defenseman, who put the puck into his own net... one shot, 3 goals credited to the great one.

Give us the link!

Since we're doing trivia, this one always cracks me up: Lemieux scored five goals in a game, which is not a record, but he scored them in the five possible ways. And I'm not talking forehand, backhand, over the shoulder... 1) Even strength....

Maine gets a tie on Friday? A necktie, maybe.
Jerry always loses to Maine mid season then goes on a tear thru HE, the Regionals and then the Frozen Four. Maine gets a point or maybe 2 this weekend

Was it Gene Reilly that said someone should have broken his wrist after the fourth one?

Steve Abbott - For The Love Of God, Have Some Stones and Some Brains and GET RID OF THIS GUY! Can we be any more clear?
"COMMON SENSE" these days are not in vogue...scary thought will be "WHY" he stays...oh we know the almighty $$$$$$$ will be in play, but as I said: Common Sense/Long Range Plan on the Programs Direction/etc.-etc.

I remember when he did it... iifc:
even strength
powerplay
short handed
penalty shot
empty netter... the one "type" that he did not get was an awarded goal

Hey guys, can you give me an answer about a UMaine player? I think he only played one year about 5 or 6 years ago. I think he was a very high draft choice, possibly first round. Total stud.

as wally said, purcell was not drafted... but that does lead to a good trivia question.. who were maine's most recent first round draft picks?
i honestly cannot think of ANY since Timmy took over...without looking, maybe Barrett Heisten, or Janik? (although they should not really count)
