Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Anyone know how season ticket holders were notified that they could purchase tickets to Fenway? I never received any notification.
I didn't either

wait until day of game and they will be giving away great seats on stub hub below face value.
if they did for bc/bu, you will get a bowl of soup and a hat tossed in for maine/unh

Your right, I dont see this doing well at all. I believe there will be tickets available wherever you want them.

I wouldn't waste my time, outdoor ice is a joke, the view is a joke and Maine gives up a home game against UNH. Seems likely its a lose lose for Maine

I went to the BC/BU game and although I nearly froze, I still enjoyed the novelty and historic aspect of it. That being said, at the time I said I probably wouldn't go again unless Maine was involved. Well, they are and I've reserved my tickets and am looking forward to it. Hopefully, Maine fans will turn out in droves as it would be good for the program and the school. In addition, the players seem to be excited about it and it will give them (especially the players from Mass) a lasting memory.

I wouldnt count on it.. Most people down here are Fenweyed out. last year was brutal views and brutaly cold.

Also it doesnt help that the Bruins play their first game vs Vancouver on the 7th as well.....

Bruins/Canucks will be an afternoon game. NESN has stated that they will broadcast the B's game at one, UVM/UMass at four, and then UM/UNH afterward.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Ouch.

UNH gets Tort,an Original Black Bear for all intents and purposes, and an outstanding goalie back in the day,who presumably could improve Maine's ghastly netminding...And we get Timmy for another year?Just doesn't add up.

Not Tim's fault:I'd take his paycheck myself, especially in return for so little production, and who wouldn't..?But I hope to God that the BOT has put in some safeguards in place to protect against anyone else getting a contract extension without meriting it.The university was seriously railroaded by Blake's gift to Tim;somebody has to have sufficient authority and enough sense to prevent this happening again.I hope.

*SIGH*...Gonna be another long winter, folks.Maybe I'll take up squash to pass the time.

You've been a fan for a while. Did you say the same thing about Shawn not hiring this "original Black Bear" when he asked for a job back in '92 and then went to UHN to be Umile's assistant before getting the job at Colby? Or is it only a problem now?

Also, WABI really needs to get an editor for the website. We live in Maine, not maine. He was the goaltender on Jack Semler's team, not Jack Semlers team.

Thank god that they replaced the bleachers with........bleachers!

This is very disappointing, why don't they just put chair backs throughout the entire arena. After the first month those new bleachers will be filthy just like the old ones from people walking on them, and no cleaning being done. Way to go Maine!! Money well spent.

Didn't say it in '92,no....But then, unlike now, there was hope for the future of the program under the coaching regime in place.Clearly, that is not the case at present...And while I recognize that Tim is ensconced for another season, regardless of Tort's availability (or lack thereof),there's nothing saying I have to like it.

(As for WABI,that's just another piece of evidence that Americans are getting less literate by the second.I blame texting. :))

Just as long as people recognize that he does have a history as a Umile assistant at UHN, so it isn't like this is happening in a vacuum. But Umile must be desperate...here we are just weeks before the season and he's hiring an assistant.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

I'm trying to understand under what conditions Tort leaves a head coaching job at Colby, presumeably reasonably well paid in a nice area, to go to UHN as an assistant coach. Unlike Maine which currently has no plan for succession for our favorite coach Timmay, Umile has apparently hand selected his successor. I give whistlin Dick 2 more years before he whistles no 'mo. Question is, can Jimmay give Dickie his elusive NC?

If he does, we can always say that it took someone on the staff from Maine to get them there!!! :D

Lobsterfest will be held once again this year at the Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth. Date is September 25th with all proceeds benefiting the hockey program. $60.00 per person and limited to 80 people. Very nice event with an opportunity to meet players and meet other fans.

How 'bout a space after commas and periods, wise literate one?
