Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year
But Sirman is not on the roster anymore so his inconsistent play last year won't have any bearing on how Sullivan and Marty play this year. I would think Marty not being injured to start the year will help make them more of a tandem, which seems to be what they're both built for.
Along those lines..
Sullivan seemed to offer the greatest level of consistency and composure.
Shawn had a few glaring lapses including the UNH last minute debacle, but at the end of the day, the team only took 1 regulation loss in front of him. He let in quite a few coachable softies, without which, he wins a few more games and the goalie debate takes a different form. Who knows how he'll look, or where he'll fit.
Marty is supposed to be the most naturally talented keeper on the roster.
You could go so many different directions with this. You could argue that a 3-way dance won't help anyone out, but you have an overwhelming need to make a move or let someone walk after this year. So who gets the axe? The #1 job became Sullys, and you'd be hard pressed to have Marty ride pine again, so the 'obvious choice' seems to be Sirman...and yet...I have an awful hard time making him the perma-door opener when he was a ridiculous, fixable softy away from 1 loss in 9 decisions and (taken with a grain of saltthe best save pct of the 3 last year.
Who knows?!
