Today was the first practice for the team in the renovated Alfond. First game is just 13 days away.

Yeah and nobody in the lower bowl knows where their seats are

That's what Select a Seat Night is for. Give season tickets holders to keep the same general area or upgrade. The BDN article today stated that about 275 seats were lost. Better than 400, so were probably looking at a capacity of around 5150. Not like it'll be needed, especially with this years team...

What is "Select a Seat Night," when is it, and when is the athletic department going to tell season ticket holders about it?

I'm excited.:) Looking forward to seeing the new team on the ice. I see Hockey East being very competitive once again.

You'd think they'd tell a season ticket holder who's section, row and seats are gone from Alfond that he had a chance to do this, wouldn't ya?

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

ATTN SEASON TICKET HOLDERS! What few of you are left....:p

With a new work schedule, the same 2 hour drive, and the fact that the wife can't committ to any games this year (right out straight...) I forewent my season tickets (as I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to recapture some in the future)

BUT! That doesn't mean some buddies and I wouldn't like to have decent seats to at least a couple games this year!

If you're a season ticket holder that doesn't attend every single game, please shoot me a PM with some contact info. I'd be interested in buying some off some of you and compensating you for them. I'd like better seats than what "single game" has to offer....so let me know!!! :D

The Alfond is going to have harder ice with new chiller. Similar to the ice arena in Brewer. Here's more info from BDN.

Soft ice is what kept UHN and BC kinda-sorta at bay at Maine recently,IMO...

I hate to say it,but I'm thinking that the Bears will finish 6th or 7th in HE this year.Maine won't score, nor will they keep the puck out. There is just no logical reason to think otherwise.

Great foresight by architects and engineers regarding the new ducts that now block the press box and top 6 rows of fans from seeing the scoreboard........they already will be frigging around with the brand new duct work by installing elbows!!!.........another FAIlL with this latest "renovation". I wish I had the money to give because I'd tell the niversity to tear the whole GD thing down and build a new one.

Jeez louise, calm down, it said they were fixing it.

Maine is not the only team in the Hockey East to have lost key players. If thier goaltending holds up, watch out for our boys to surprise a lot of people this year.

Guessing that after spending on the latest renovation the Black Bears won't be getting involved in the new Bangor Auditorium?

While attending a local presentation on the new arena before it was voted on the group I was in was told by a city council member the University was asked if they would move the hockey team to the new arena if they built it with ice. After a six week period the university said no. However the new area is being built with temporary ice capabilities so they can host high school games and hope to host a college game or two a year.

Last I heard they weren't putting in any ice making capabilities in the new arena because it would cost too much...

Also, while I understand that adding safety netting behind the goals is probably a good idea to protect people (especially in the student section during warmups) I'm really dissapointed that the I'm going to have to watch the games through an obstruction.

It was explained to us the arena won’t have traditional ice making capabilities but its set up to be able to have a portable ice rink brought in like at outdoor games.

I'm not saying its a good or bad idea. Its just what we were told.

The new Bangor Arena will have ice making capabilities but not for full-time use. I have seen plans for the building and it does include a refrigeration room and can be used when needed.
