Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

WCSH and WLBZ will host Quest for the Cup at 7:30 tonight. It will be hosted by Lee Goldberg and star fellow NYA alumnus and 17-year NHL veteran Eric Weinrich and former Black Bear and current Islander coach Jack Capuano. The stations will air the Stanley Cup Final at 8pm.

Sorry for the intrusion. We now return you to your usually scheduled whining.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Timmy still does not have the nads to admit that he tossed Zach ONLY to ensure that Tim himself did not lose his job... Zach did nothing wrong... The newspapers scared Timmy... and "useful thirdliners" in college hockey do not play as long as Zach has in the AHL... he would have been a real NCAA star, had he been allowed to play hockey at Maine
I highly doubt he would have been an NCAA star. He couldn't even crack 30 points in his two years in the Q and EVERYONE scores there if he couldn't score in that league he certainly wouldn't have put up points in HE. Case in point there were 145 players that had 30 or more points in the Q this year and he couldn't even manage that when he was an overager.

As for the AHL he's a 4th line role player who was tied for 12th on his team in scoring he's not exactly an all star. Good for him that he's hanging around in the AHL, but lets not get carried away.

As far as Sill,I hope the best for him,but do you really think he's going to make a difference in Pittsburgh, thats if he even makes the roster..?

I wish him the best of luck.If he makes the big club,I'll root like hell for him...But he was definitely not a factor at the college level.

That purge of Timmy's was his best coaching move ever. It's the reason he still has a job at Maine,IMO.

A real fan supports his team through the good times and the bad times. I like Black Bear hockey and I will continue to support it because it's great.

Couldn't agree more. Support your team no matter what.

Now, on to your behavior :

Did Mike Nifong tell you that it was a good move on Timmy's part? Nifong is a disbarred liar.

you are correct in saying he never would have been a star in the NCAA... Whitehead has NO idea how to use a guy like Sill.
Sill is too emotional, too upbeat, too willing to sacrifice his body... no Zen in that boy

Work is underway on Phase I of the Alfond Arena Renovation Project: new lower bowl seats, new chilling system, new rink floor in place by fall.

Do you know if there is going to be new seamless glass as part of the renovation?

Just for the record again, Greg Moore's PPG in the AHL this year was 0.32 (24 in 75 games). Zack Sill's was 0.375 (30 in 80 games). So I mean the idea that Moore is a 4th line grinder and Sill is some top-6 force is not born out in the numbers. Facts, not opinion. Without ever having watched either AHL team, maybe opinion means more in this case, but those are the facts.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

I loved that Greg was a Mainer playing at home, and he certainly was a very solid college guy...But,although he was strong and big and smart,he never had the quickness to excel at the next level,IMO.(Your God-given feet are your God-given feet, right?)

I watched his every shift after he was called-up by the Rangers a couple years back, and he made some noise at first, then had trouble keeping pace with the game.

No regrets about spending the time watching him, though.I'll take 15 Greg Moores a year, every year.He knows how to play the game.

What was good about Moore also during his years at Maine...is he got better each season because of himself,he was driven to make himself a better player...I would have loved to see him play under Shawn Walsh...

aren't you making my point? about what he would have been like in college?saying that he has better numbers in the AHL than an all american in college?

From the article it says Zach signed a 2 year deal with the Pens, it doesn't say its a 2 way contract. To me that that says he is going to get paid NHL wages no matter what, so they must think he is going to make the team.

Sill would have been an excellent addition to Maine, you could see it in the games he played before being dismissed. Its in the past, get over it.
