LSSU Lakers 2020-21

Things are shaking out in the other conference tournaments pretty favorably for the Lakers, but let's just keep winning and not leave things up to chance.

I think the winner of the Lakers/Beavers game definitely gets into the tournament. The loser may also get in, but it's not a sure thing.

It's safe to say this is the biggest game for the Lakers in 25 years. Hopefully a better result than the '96 loss to Vermont.

No doubt tomorrow's game will be very tough. Bemidji State will be out for revenge after the Lakers took 4 of 6 points from them a couple weeks ago. I have a feeling it will be a high scoring game with lots of penalties.

It’s weird but I feel so confident heading into this game. The Lakers have the scoring, defense, and goaltending to get this done.

They’ll also have a chip on their shoulders knowing the pollsters still somehow think they are worse than Bowling Green.

This game is huge. Go Lakers!

Looks like NMU came to play today and Mankato didn't. Cats up 5-0 after 2 periods. Barring a monstrous comeback by the Mavs in the 3rd period, it makes tonight's game even more important for the Lakers to win if they hope to make the tournament.

Nmu winning is not good for the Lakers. A Nmu autobid if they win the tournament could very well bump the Lakers out of the NCAA tournament.

If NMU wins the WCHA tournament tomorrow night, I think that will bump the loser of tonight's game out of the NCAA tournament. I don't see the WCHA getting 4 teams in. 3 teams would likely be the max and even that many isn't guaranteed.

It might be really good if the Lakers win tonight. I like the Lakers chances over NMU more than I did against Minnesota State. Just keep winning, Lakers, and get the autobid!

Lakers in first conference championship game since 1996 tomorrow with a very unexpected all Yooper WCHA Final. It will also be the first postseason meeting all-time between the two teams

Huge win. A fitting one to be the 1,000th in the program’s storied history. Go Lakers!

Pretty sure it was 999, not 1,000. I think some added the win totals wrong. This is what I got....

Mason- 130-44-8
Comley- 59-45-3
Yeo- 69-97-5
Selman- 26-30-3
Anzalone- 191-108-22
Jackson- 182-52-25
Borek- 76-94-15
Anzalone- 32-97-20
Roque- 136-165-46
Whitten- 98-132-27 (as of now)
TOTAL- 999-864-174

The NMU game is going to be tough. The Wildcats will be out for revenge after the Lakers won the Cappo Cup from them for the second season in a row. Lakers need to be ready and play and not do what Minnesota State did.

Looking back to 1991........if the Lakers had not lost in the NCAA quarterfinals at home to Clarkson, The NCAA final might have been NMU vs. the Lakers since they were in opposite brackets. Given that many consider the 90-91 team the best Laker squad of all times, I would have liked our chances. I like our chances tonight.

We did it! 2021 WCHA playoff champs and the first NCAA tournament appearance in 25 years! Kudos to Damon Whitten for building this program to this moment and proving his doubters wrong
