All we need tomorrow is to not lose the game in the first 65 minutes and you'll have an eliminated opponent next week.

Great job Chargers!
As for the Lakers I didn't listen to the game but looking at the box score, looks like special teams doomed us.
Team defensive play was too loose.
What happened to everyone that was complaining when Whittens contract was renewed. Give Mr. Paitson credit. He didn’t make the popular decision. He made the right one.
BG and Bemidji are going to the 3 on 3 OT, so the Lakers will at least maintain a lead over Bemidji for 4th place.
Or maybe not.
Lakers have won 20 for the 2nd time since 1995-96. People gripe. Really?
11 of those wins are over the bottom 12 teams of college hockey. 14 of the wins are over the bottom 20 of college hockey. That leaves the Lakers 6-10 against anybody rated over 40 in the RPI. The Lakers are 4-8 against teams with a .500 record or better. This is a team with a weak schedule that managed to pile up a bunch of wins that mean nothing. It will buy Damon a few more years of a system that will never be relevant at a national level. He is trying to mimic a system of Tech (under Pearson), BG and Mankato that have a combined 0 NCAA tournament wins since the formation of the new WCHA.
You have 2 hobey baker candidates that were held off the scoreboard this weekend. Cugglieta and Nellis have no business being candidates as they showed this weekend they are irrelevant if they play a quality opponent. Cugglieta and Nellis have a combined 8 points in 10 games against the 3 best opponents they have played this year (NMU, MSU and BG). Piling up stats against the bottom 10 of college hockey is meaningless.
Compare to the defending national champions. Duluth has only 4 of 19 wins against the bottom 20 of college hockey. Need to win meaningful games to earn respect.

That’s the makeup of the WCHA. And yet, for the first 5 years of the new league, LSSU was not competitive and didn’t beat those “lesser” teams. So it’s hard to deny that they’re much better this year.
I think that you make good points but don't forget that college hockey as a whole is much closer, botom to top than it used to be. Didn't like number 55 beat number 5 this last weekend.? And that kind of result is not all that rare. They are better, but deserve no comparison to teams of the past. Such as teams from the 90's.
Lakers remain ranked at #19 in USCHO poll despite getting swept at NMU.
Congrats to Calder on earning WCHA Rookie of the Week.
He was the Lakers best player this weekend. He’s a terrific player.
Considering he has 19 points on the season, where he was either the extra forward or saw limited ice time early in the year is really impressive. Hopefully his production keeps up & I think we'll be seeing another 100-pointer out of him.
