LSSU Lakers 2016 off-season thread

I think most fans (and coaches) have been assuming there would be additional juggling of conference alignments over the next few years. If both Alaska schools were to lose their programs soon, that certainly could force the issue earlier than what otherwise might be the case. If Minnesota State does go to the NCHC, that makes Bemidji more of an outlier geographically; I don't think they will be happy about that.
They may not be happy, but they may not have any options. They really got screwed by the old WCHA. Forced to build a WCHA capacity barn to join, then getting left in the dust by North Dakota, Duluth, Omaha, St Cloud & Minnesota and now possibly Mankato is really awful for the program.

Has anybody found a link to the hockey show from Wednesday? I can't find a link to it on LSSU's website or from Soverign Communications.
Sovereign recorded it and sent it to Eddie Bishop, the SID. He is out of the office until this Wednesday. Maybe we'll see something then.

But we were out of options. It was either build the barn or drop hockey. The CHA was dead with Robert Morris and Niagara going to the AHA and life as an independent we all know is not doable. On the plus side, the City of Bemidji did get a nice venue for a city their size that can host a multitude of other events.

The thing that really bugs me about the demise of the WCHA is that BSU paid the admission fees over a three year period, and during that time, they were not allowed to reap any of the profits from the WCHA tournament. When BSU finally does become a full fledged member, boom, the league blows up.

How is this Eddie's Job? Shouldn't the radio station hosting the show be responsible for podcasting the show? What a joke.

I don't mind the net changes, but dislike the other changes. I've always hated shootouts and always will. There's nothing wrong with regular season ties.

I have to imagine that 23 ties in the regular season had something to do with it. Ties are good in my eyes, shootouts are bearable, but I dislike the back to back sudden death overtimes. Just not a fan.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016 off-season thread

I can't wait for Lake Superior State University hockey and the third season under head coach Damon Whitten, who is steering the good ship Laker to success.

I agree with Bill Crawford, this is a much better team than a lot of people think, and is a dark horse contender for a top-4 finish and home ice in the playoffs.

Methinks they return a lot of talent, including on defence, with Soo, Ontario's Aiden Wright and Garden River First Nation product Owen Headrick, fresh from an eye-opening season as a freshman, where he was the best player on the ice most nights for the LSSU Lakers, as several of the scouts in attendance would agree.

Ringy Dingy!

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016 off-season thread

I haven't really thought about it. Guesses would be Correale (C) and Henke (A). For a second A, maybe Wright or Chatham or Defiel.

I wonder if there is any chance of Defiel being captain. With Motte being the captain a couple years ago at Ferris, I think there is a chance it could happen.
