LSSU Lakers 2016 off-season thread

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016 off-season thread

I wonder if there is any chance of Defiel being captain. With Motte being the captain a couple years ago at Ferris, I think there is a chance it could happen.
Yeah it could happen although I think it's usually easier (more common) for a non-goalie to be captain.

For sure it is easier for a non-goalie to do it. I think the assistants handled all of the discussions with officials in the Ferris State case 2 years ago.

With how much the team relied on Defiel the past 2 years, that is the only reason I think it makes sense to possibly do it.

Seems MN State and Arizona have no hope of joining the NCHC as that league has no interest at this point to expand .

If Arizona State were to get a realistic timetable in place for an arena fairly soon, the NCHC could reconsider their position on Minnesota State and Arizona State in a couple of seasons.

No big surprises on the 86-96 team. Forwards were fairly predictable although I gave the nod to Clayton Beddoes over Brian Rolston mainly because Beddoes is one of my favorite all time Lakers players. I also had Hoffort in net over Lacher.

Looks like Holy Cross may be jumping into Hockey East after Notre Dame pulls out.

One senior on the team is hard to believe. I cannot imagine any other team having only one senior.

Providing the best hockey coverage in the area, including coverage of the good ship Laker, www.saultthisweek.com and www.hockeynewsnorth.com Randy Russon has an article on the three local products on the Lake Superior State University Lakers roster.

This includes sophomore sensation Owen Headrick, who hails from Garden River First Nation. The smooth skating defenceman finished sixth on the Lakers in scoring last season with 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 points, and had pro scouts at the Norris Center all season long.

Owen Guy has picked up his first USHL goal tonight, playing for Cedar Raoids.

Anyone been to any practices yet to see how the new guys look?

Robert Blueger picked up his first couple of goals for Fairbanks (NAHL) over the weekend.
