LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

Re: LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

If Michigan offered Pearson the job , it would be good bye snowstorms and hello Big Ten .

Unfortunately, I think you might be right. As a Husky fan, I hope it doesn't happen. He has a good thing going right now at MTU and is being paid handsomely for his services. Michigan is a top 5 job in college hockey. Hard to turn that down. He has a ton of support from former Michigan players and there will be a push to get him if/when Red finally decides to go.

Happy July 4th to Laker fans.

I really hope he stays in Houghton it's a great city and a first class program that he is resurrecting.

Happy 4th of July weekend to you and also all Lakers fans.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

Lakers opponents for the Catamount Cup are revealed with the release of the Vermont schedule today. We play Vermont Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm and then we play Brown the following day at 4pm. It will be the first time we play Brown since 1993.

I'm surprised that there has been no word on season tickets yet.

I hope like hell the players are working at strength and conditioning like madmen during these summer months. Or is it really fall still here in MI .

Re: LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

Tomorrow morning Eagle 95.1 will have LSSU Asst coach Rich Metro on at 7:30am.

I will podcast it and post it on here.

IF you'd like to listen live you can do so on our app search "WUPN" in your App or Play store or online at www.radioeaglesoo.com

Based upon the contract extension Pearson recently signed, I would think the chances of him leaving Tech have greatly decreased. However, with his NAHL head coaching experience and his time at Tech, with a little success in the USHL, I could see Muckalt being prominently mentioned for the job when Red retires.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

The other interesting takeaway I got from the interview is that recruiting for the 2016-17 class is almost complete. It sounds like they are looking for one more high end forward. The overall makeup of that class may be somewhat uncertain at this point, although no doubt the coaches have made some projections. A lot will depend upon which guys develop the fastest in their upcoming junior seasons.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2015 off-season thread

The schedule on the LSSU Athletics website was update with starting times. Some interesting notes..
-Blue/white game is at 3:07pm on October 3. No word if it's at the Pullar or Abel Arena.
-Exhibition game against the U.S. Under 18 team is at 5:07pm on October 4.
-Michigan State series times October 22-23 is still TBA
-UAA series January 16-17 is still listed as a Saturday/Sunday series so apparently it wasn't a mistake. The Sunday game is at 5:07pm.

I think LSSU and BG are trying to help them have a shorter road trip. They play in the Sault Saturday and Sunday, then go to BG to play a Thursday and Friday series the following weekend.

If that's what it is, that is an interesting concept. If it seems to work out well, I wonder if the league would consider more scheduling like that, particularly when the Alaska teams are concerned. It could be used when a team is in Alaska for back-to-back weekends as well as when they are down here on back-to-back weekends.

I'm not sure. I know attendance isn't as good on Sundays than the traditional Friday and Saturday games.

That's a serious revenue decrease for the home teams.
