With how the offense was playing I don't think it had much of an effect on the outcome.

Lakers get help from Michigan State as they beat Alaska. Lakers need two points to leapfrog Alaska to clinch first round home ice. If not and we get swept, we need Ferris to limit OSU to nothing more than one point.
And Miami has nothing to play for from a standings point of view. Even with a sweep they can't catch Michigan and Western is too far behind to catch them.
Do you know this to be true or are you just guessing about their budget?
Miami is 12th in the Pairwise. They will be playing for an NCAA berth. Maybe to also get Andy Miele the Hobey Baker too.
No need to guess about budgets in the internet age. Lake State's recruiting budget for men's hockey last year was $28,788.
Couldn't find breakdowns for hockey, but Ferris spent $40,975 and NMU spent $75,097 recruiting male athletes last year. Both those schools have football teams which must eat up a huge chunk of the recruiting budget, even if they are D-II.

I wonder if the folks who are giving $5 Mil for a swanky new arena would consider kicking in an extra $100K to up the recruiting budget 10K a year for the next decade?Their generosity is fantastic and I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but kids need to be brought in to look at the new arena before they commit and that costs money.
Another OJHL article out today confirming that Steve Perfetto has committed to LSSU:

He broke an ankle at an evaluation camp for the World Junior A Challenge back in August and missed the first part of the season, so his numbers aren't as good as if he'd played the whole season. I like the fact that his coach said he's quick and gritty. His numbers don't exactly jump out at you.
