Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Double whammy tonight. Lakers lose and Michigan State wins. Lakers just can't find consistency at all this year, very frustrating. Kapalka will have to stand on his head if the Lakers want to make a deep run in the CCHA playoffs.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

How many people have stood up on this forum and said that they want roque to stick around? Not many, if any but the bottom line is that the CCHA was out of line with this fine/suspension, no one is saying its the league's fault or the official's fault that the Lakers aren't where they have a chance to be this year...what everyone IS saying is that it was a case of horrible officiating and that Roque was right for calling an ace an ace, the "less than professional antics" moniker belongs to the subpar officials..maybe if you had actually been at the game you would know what the hell you are talking about instead of just speculating on a topic of which you are so bewilderingly lost as to the real info

Well said Anchors i could not have said it any better myself.

Well said Anchors i could not have said it any better myself.

You people are so predictable defending this administration despite what is becoming more and more an embarrassment for your little town and college. Good to see this head coach has packed this forum with his buddies who are all probably the same person.

With the former athletic director now the head cheerleader for the coach maybe the new one will come to her senses and see the downward spiral in the hockey program, attendance and character. Frank Anzalone would have never pulled such a stunt like calling the police on a linesman after the game.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Splitting a weekend series with a team that hadn't won a league game in 9 weeks was not an encouraging lift. Staurday the Lakers had good chances to tie,to go ahead ,to win, and they could not pull it off. A Bowling Green couple told me the team has been so down and they felt as if they would not win another league game this year but behold,Lake State showed up to make them hopeful again.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Yeah they need to bury the quality chances when they get them and from the sounds of it last night they sure didn't.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

We sat with some BG fans, at last nights game, who remarked they felt the best team didn't win, its just their goalie was very hot. It was a very frustrating game to watch. The 'B' team showed up to play a 'C' team and lost. I can't believe the guys can't make good passes or handle a pass at this point in the season. Two or three times last night I saw the puck left behind our net when we went on the attack because neither of the guys new who was going to do what. This is all basic hockey guys. Man I love to watch these guys play when the 'A' team or the 'B+' team shows up to play. If it were not for K2 the Lakers and Falcons would really have a battle for the basement. Someone had better wake them up, its obvious Roque's titrate didn't motivate them as someone suggested it would.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

"You know I can't get down about this past weekend getting 3 points on the road is huge in this league and a bounce here and hitting a post there and we get the 6 points I think the boys are working hard and we have to keep doing what we are doing and work hard and the wins will come and we are going to be the surprise team of the second half and Bowling Green is tough to play in front of their fans and are a vastly improved team and how can I get down on these guys and myself for not getting any breaks and being right there we are right there and on par with the teams ahead of us and this team is snake bit and these guys get better and better every game and i don't care what anyone says this team is going to win a bunch of games and the refs didn't give us any breaks or calls on the weekend and how the league commissioner is even against us along with the refs and linesman i mean i just wanted to talk to them a few weeks ago and had to file a police report because i was threatened and it is unfair due to the finances and being such a small university to be competing against the Western Michigan's and Alaska's who poured in a ton of money to their program and it is unfair if we were to get a home ice advantage because it would cost us $10,000 a game plus expenses to the other teams and that is unfair, Michigan flies here for crying out loud and i hear people all the time being critical of these guys who work hard and they don't know what they are talking about as they are not around these guys and we have a bunch of character guys that improve every year and the power play will come around and we will be the dark horse of the second half and should compete for a first round bye and we have to capitalize on our opportunities because the pucks will start going in the net and we have played tough and are right there and we are going to keep working hard and doing the little things and the wins will come."

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

The CCHA refs are a joke. The performance is worse with two. Now we get to see a ref 50 feet out of position make a bad call on a play to which another ref is closer. Evidence of their incompetance is how frequently they get fooled by player dives. It has encouraged the worst in player dramatics. Even as a Laker fan, I have to admit Schofield's dive at the end of the WMU game, which led to the tying goal during a 6 on 4, was ridiculously obvious.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Everyone thought the tough part of the year for the Lakers was going to be the first half of the season and 6 games into the second half and they have one win. Looking at the rest of their schedule, two wins may be all they end up with this second half . Ties are better than a loss but they are not a win and this team needs wins. A coaching change is looking better and better . Six years and the Lakers still remain fighting for the bottom of the league.

True, but thankfully we got rid of Frank Analazone, and now he is spending quality time in a league no one knows about.

Keep making yourselves feel better about your prospective 10th place finish by blaming everyone else, the refs, Frank Anzalone, the commissioner, bad calls, tough schedule, bad luck, bad bounces, and everything else that is against your poor little college and poor Jim Roque.

The ringleaders of the coup six years ago are protecting this man and this administration be it the propaganda heard on this forum, the broadcasts or in your backwards little town. I am done with you people and running down the people that built your program, while propping up your hero who you people make excuses for year after year. Enjoy 10th place because 11th place is your next year with this administration returning.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

I think most of you have missed my points about Roque's tirade.

1.He has made an allegation against an official of the conference; no matter our collective opinion of his performance on the ice.
a) The conference must follow up with all parties concerned to see if Roque was threatened. They too cannot have a loose cannon on the ice.
b) The conference should be contacting the Soo PD to see if Roque filed a complaint and what was the out come. If the threat did occur the conference needs to dismiss the official immediately.
c) If there was no complaint filed by Roque; LSSU must also dismiss Roque immediately.

2. Lake State should also be conducting their own investigate into these allegations.
a) I still do not believe any university cannot tolerate one of its representatives/coach or player representing the university in this manner. I know if you or I did something like this on the job we would be suspended pending an investigation of the incident. Depending upon the out come I would be suspended or dismissed by our employer.

What has happened to people being held accountable for there actions? In this case Coach Roque, the CCHA Officials and LSSU Officials?

All our questions will be answered tomorrow on the Jim Roque show. I am sure Crawford is going to address all these points and what you are saying because Laker fans want to get to the bottom of this and hear the coaches words instead of the people on here that just want to run down everything about Laker hockey. It will be interesting to hear the question asked of our coach about what exactly was said by this rogue linesman who threatened him and what the outcome of the police report was. I am sure everything will come out fine for Coach Roque and we can address this issue and put it to rest and focus on 8th place and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs this weekend and surprising a lot of people with this team that has great coach, stellar special teams play, players that just get better and the darkhorse of the second half that gets better every game.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

the fact that the majority of the league gave their blessing for Alabama Huntsville to join the league and Anastos still put a stop to it says it all...

Factually incorrect. CCHA bylaws state that a 3/4 majority is required and the commissioner does NOT have a vote. The commissioner also does not have a vote regarding the shootout or the like and is NOT on the rules committee (re. icing during penalty kill). You all are certainly entitled to your opinions but many here are terribly misinformed not only on how things work but also on the incident that sparked all of this discussion in the first place.

Maybe what we need is a person such as yourself to correct us on the incident that sparked all this discussion in the first place. Seems to me the correct story would be far better than an incorrect one. Incorrect stories lead to rumours and truth sets everyone free.
