Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

That is because you and Anchors are the same person.

Little kid games huh !! You slipped up and were outed so now it's "no i'm not you are".

I find it funny that myself and Anchors are the same person considering we have had quite different oppinions on here at times. We are the same in some way's for sure we both are or have attended the fine university of Lake Superior State and are big supporters of the hockey team.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Unless anybody heard of Roque filing a complaint against the Soo Evening News, we can take it they quoted him properly (and consider that "the truth is there" :-P ).

Beside all what has already been said (alleged unfair calls / unacceptable attitude / prejudice to the school), what do you think Roque's own words say about his self-control (loosing temper and calling the police), his judgment (he feared for his life), his good faith (maintaining his position several days later) for not to mention his ability to admit mistakes and apologize, at least to protect the university (facing up to his responsibilities).

Somebody asked why everything is kept so secret. Could it be there is nothing meaningful to say ?
Btw was Dan Barczuk booted because he was bull-headed ?

If he is asked at the radio show (probably already arranged), he will explain the unexplainable in the same smooth way.

It would be good for the debate that those who give some credit to Roque's attitude bring some reassuring words. It looks scary.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Roque said linesman Mike Poliski threatened him when they were on the ice.

“I had to call the police and file a complaint against him,” “All I wanted to do is ask how they were giving me seven minutes of penalties in the last ten minutes … they (officials) wouldn’t talk to me. They wouldn’t even come over for the shootout. I think that’s uncalled for. I got fined $1,000 five years ago for saying something bad about the refs in the paper. The guy can threaten my life and nothing happens to him?”

Yes you do engage in little kid games. Why is it you guys try so hard to prove that myself and the two "Truths" are one in the same (which we are not). Is it because if we are one person then that means only ONE person dislikes Jim Roque? Talk about an elitist attitude. Or is it just your way of deflecting criticism away from Roque?

I am looking forward to Coach Roque's comments on these topics so he can set the record straight. I take the coach at his word and if he said he called the police to file a report then that is exactly what happened and what he did. Despite the linesman apparently being a police officer it has nothing to do with what happened. He didn't deny, nor hasn't denied that fact since at least from what I have read. Knowing the professional that Crawford is he will have to address this at some point during tonight's show because it is a very serious matter and a black eye on the University if it is ignored and have the Roque haters on here control the conversation.

I would also like to hear about Dan Barchuk and I am shocked that him not being on the roster hasn't been mentioned either. I know the coach was highly critical of him just before the new year. If these questions have been asked of the coach before I haven't heard of them so someone please correct me if I am wrong. This must be the first time a player has left under these kind of circumstances under Coach Roque, at least if we are to believe what the post above says.

I am looking forward to the final 8 games and the Lakers progressing more under this coach and the fight for 8th place because this team is getting better and better and you Roque and Laker haters don't know what you are talking about because you are not around this team and these guys enough so stop it just stop it. This team is going to win a lot of games and are the surprise team of the second half and I think they have what it takes to make it to double digit victories on the season. Northern Michigan watch out!

I am NOT Boot_Jim_Roque or Truth Squad or Truth Serum (whether same or different), but I do miss THE TRUTH on this forum.
Reading what is written, I happen to be a little elitist sometimes (nobody is perfect) :(

Get a grip, and ease up on the underline feature. The coach was angry over calls, yelled at the officials, and was baited by the chubby linesman. I'd like to see the players react with some passion and stop the downward spiral. That is something legitimate to question about this program.

Thanks Coach Cooper for blaming someone else's physical appearance to defend your coaching staff! You people truly never change!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

... It was a very frustrating game to watch. The 'B' team showed up to play a 'C' team and lost. I can't believe the guys can't make good passes or handle a pass at this point in the season. Two or three times last night I saw the puck left behind our net when we went on the attack because neither of the guys new who was going to do what. This is all basic hockey guys. Man I love to watch these guys play when the 'A' team or the 'B+' team shows up to play. If it were not for K2 the Lakers and Falcons would really have a battle for the basement. Someone had better wake them up, its obvious Roque's titrate didn't motivate them as someone suggested it would.

Yup, and that pretty much sums up the Sat night game. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was painful to watch. The Lakers showed zero sense of urgency until 5 minutes to go in the 3rd and they were down a goal. Then to credit BG's goaltender, he made some key saves to preserve the win. But the Lakers have no good reason for loosing that game, even after using the "hot goalie" excuse, they could have won that game 5-2 easily but they just didn't execute on the ice. They just looked bad and the passing was horrible. It blows me away seeing them play that badly after seeing them play extremely well at times this season.

I am tired of the other goalie being hot and even the Wings would not have beaten them that night nonsense. Eight games to go and seven wins on the season . If you think that is success than you are a huge Roque fan and if you think Roque is turning the program around , you didn't watch Saturday nights game . I wish Roque would just stand up like Anzalone would had at this point and just say we don't play very good hockey and be honest.

I hope Radio Soo's audio feed is working better than last week. I blasted it on my computer and could barely hear it. I can't wait for Coach Roque to shut these detractors up and tell his side of the story and we can focus on getting win #8 in February! An 8th place finish would be miraculous considering everything that has been stacked against the Lakers from them being a small school, to the schedule, to the bad bounces, to the refs and commissioners being against them. This team is going to win a lot of games and get better each and every one of them and will be the surprise team of the second half. Those words will end up being prophetic and probably warrant a four year contract extension.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Factually incorrect. CCHA bylaws state that a 3/4 majority is required and the commissioner does NOT have a vote. The commissioner also does not have a vote regarding the shootout or the like and is NOT on the rules committee (re. icing during penalty kill). You all are certainly entitled to your opinions but many here are terribly misinformed not only on how things work but also on the incident that sparked all of this discussion in the first place.

Then why is there a shootout if the majority of the coaches voted against it?

The Truth Is Out There....

Say it with me Truth ... punctuation.

My reference to the rotund linesman was either an attempt at humor, a description of his most identifiable characteristic, or an attempt to distract from the topic of the coach's tirade. If I was using the tactic of blaming the coach's behavior on the fact that the linesman was plump, that would have been obvious in my sentence construction. But seriously, he was so cute skating around in that tight little striped uniform, like a grown up league official, gazing into the crowd, not at the pretty women, but at their giant Norris Center cookies, that he couldn't have until after the game.

I'm with sm2pk. I think the Lakers are good for two more wins prior to the playoffs.

Underlining is not to get clerical comments ... but to have your comments.
Being angry about a call can happen to anybody, although rather in beer leagues though.
Calling the police alleging the ref/policeman (not very smart btw) threatened his life (although not talking to him !!!), and maintaining his position to the media a week later, instead of just apologizing, sounds like the man lost it for good and has painted himself into a corner.

"Baited by the officials" so what ? Think about a player getting too intense and using that kind of excuse to the coach. Would he still be on the team ?
