Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Jeff Jakaitis led Dayton to a nice 3-2 win over Quad City on Saturday, as Quad City has dropped 4 of its last 6 games to fall to 5th in the division standings.

Jakaitis has a 17-15-3 record with a 2.62 GAA (7th in the league of 51 goalies) and .926 SV% (3rd in the league of 51 goalies).

Wasn't Frank going to get rid of Jakaitis if he was not fired at LSSU. I think Frank said something about Jakaitis being to small to be a successful goaltender.

Keep blaming Frank Anzalone and deflect attention away from your hero. Thanks coach Laker Dude or is this the Minister?

You people and your adoration for the head of this administration, and how you protect him is quite amusing. Frank Anazlone built your little college into a national powerhouse and you want to rip him at every turn, yet never ever question one bit the current coach and his antics.

The Truth Is Out There....

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Thanks coach or Minister of Information.

The Truth Is Out There

Thanks Frank. Now, leave these LSSU fans alone, and go enjoy coaching your cute little third-tier minor league team. Maybe if you're lucky they'll win whatever no-name hardware the CHL brass got from a cereal box last week. ;)

Uh-oh, looks like the "truth" is out, Coach! :)

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Lakers have two home games against a good Alaska team this weekend. The Alaska players seem to be well coached, over achievers the last couple of years. Any predictions?

I am also curious what the forum Laker fans believe the team needs to do the rest of the season to feel it has been a success. With the current talent level, I would be disappointed, and feel they have underachieved, if they don't make it to the CCHA final four. Based on the portion of the season that has already been completed, this seems a bot unrealistic, but objectively, I think the talent level on this team justifies this expectation.

I have a bad feeling about this weekend, but I am still going to predict a LSSU sweep.

3-2 tonight, 3-1 tomorrow.

For them to have a shot at the Joe the secondary scoring will have to pick up. Cassiani especially has to start scoring. Last weekend Cassiani had a lot more shots on goal, and seemed to be more involved offensively. That could have just been because of the extra room on the bigger ice sheet. Hopefully he can continue to get some good chances this weekend and bury some of them.

It will be interesting to see if Alaska can stop the Schofield-Acton-Monardo line does this weekend.

After watching quite a few games this year I think the guys are very capable of going to the finals. We have all talked about the 'A' (the capable team) or the 'B' (the underachievers); it just depends on which team shows up. The 'A' can beat most anyone and the 'B' team can be pretty ugly as we saw in Bowling Green.

I'll be there rooting for them. Go Blue!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

I think this will be a pretty low scoring series. My Predictions

Friday: LSSU 3 Alaska 1
Saturday: LSSU 1 Alaska 1 (Alaska wins shootout)

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

I think the Lakers will come out strong tonight and carry it on to tomorrow night. I think Cassiani and McParland will figure in the scoring not just the big line. Sco is just 4 points away from the 100 mark and he is really clicking right now.
Friday
Lakers 2 Nooks 0
Saturday
Lakers 3 Nooks 1

That's what I'm hoping for this weekend. The team really needs to pull out 4 points out of this series to stay in the hunt to host Bowling Green in the first round of the tourney.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Regardless of the standings over the past 4 years I have been pretty excited to go to every home Lakers series, obviously some moreso than others, but I must say my anticipation level for this weekend's series my be higher than any other one during my time here...The Lakers have a chance to jump Alaska for 6th place and with a sweep put some space in between them and the 'Nooks...A big weekend could help us build even more momentum as the regular season winds down and the playoffs get going...It will not be easy as Greenham has been at times, the best goalie in the CCHA this season..the good news for the Lakers is that Kapalka also has held that title on some nights, with 3 shutouts in league play and with 2 CCHA goalie of the week titles to his credit this season. As far as how far the Lakers will go I hold the same opinion as many others, when the Lakers have the "A" team show up they can play with anybody, as the games against Miami and UMD have shown (among others)...Schofield, Monardo, Trotman and Acton are hot as they have been most of the season but some secondary scoring from the McParlands, Cassianis, Powers, and Cowies would go a long way towards helping the Lakers make a run this year.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Not the outcome i was hoping for or anticipating but it was nice to see them come back after being down two and take the play to them to earn a point ( ncaa tie). Sco played great but Greenham was up for the task.

I agree, it was nice to get away with a point. I think we were lucky to get away with one last night. Greenham played really well and Alaska could have had a couple more goals. Alaska did a good job of controlling the puck and forced quite a few turnovers in our zone, especially early in the game. As the game went on we started to outplay them, but the hole we dug in the first period was too much to get out of. If we play like we did in the second and third period for the whole game tonight we should come out with a victory and four points from the series. Needless to say, tonight is a huge game.

Must win tonight for the Lakers. Anything less than 3 points will be disappointing. Lakers haven't won at home in 3 months, their last win on November 13.

Well, that's one way to put it. Kind of makes it sound worse than it really is, however.

Three months sounds like an awfully long time. The fact they've played six home games in that stretch makes it sound a little less ominous.

If you count the shootout, the last Lakers win at home was 12/4, v B.G.

If you don't count the shootouts, the Lakers have only lost twice at home since November 13th.

Semantics. :)
