Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

It sounds like that was a good hard fought win tonight. It's nice to see the PP unit to have an outburst like that. With last night's game they climbed from 9th to 4th in the CCHA for PP scoring %. The boys better be ready for another battle tonight. The five points that the Lakers left on the table against Bowling Green this year are really hurting them in the standings. Five points is what separates 8th place and 5th place.

The power play was good last night. Northern took a lot of stupid penalties in the game. Kapalka had a relative easy night, NMU only had 7 or 8 quality chances in the game.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Radke was injured in the 2nd period last night. I guess we will have to wait and see if he plays tonight.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Nice win by the Lakers last night, yet another game winning goal by Schofield! It was nice to hear BMW serve as the color commentator with Bill, he is a natural and provides good insight into the game, if his playing career doesn't pan out and with his connections in the hockey world I would say that there is a high possibility he could catch on as a commentator at the professional level. I have previously commented on how much of a class act BMW was for how he handled being hurt and missing his senior season, he displayed another great example of what a class act he is when he made special mention to point out how important of a role that Pobur, Wall, and Cooper play in competing in practice and always giving their all even though they hardly ever play. Nice job Brian!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Was anybody at the game last night? Over in the NMU thread they are of the opinion that the refereeing was really poor and that the hits in the back were because our guys turned away when they were about to be hit or embellished.

Couldn't agree more. The officiating was a terrible mess that basically decided the game.

The only call that was legit was the first boarding on Chernichan that probably should have been a 5 min major/ game DQ.

The rest were closer to embellishment calls on LSSU. Get checked, lay on the ground till the arm goes up, then go to the bench and play the next shift. Dirty, ****ty hockey.

Horrible Reffing this weekend. Let them play. If you cant take a hit, dont play hockey.

If a Laker gets injured from turning his back before he gets checked, I honestly wont be upset if he is injured. If thats the type of hockey you are going to play out there in the Soo, Im not going to have any sympathy.

Any truth to those quotes or are they just being bitter?

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

I was at the game and i saw the interview of their coach on the news last night and i agree with him that they deserved the calls they got.

I ref hockey as a side job while in school, and you can take my word for it.

I was about ready to leave. That five minute misconduct ended the game.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

The NMU coach those the calls were legit. Perhaps you should stick to school.... :)

This ----> To be fair, most coaches won't use poor officiating as an excuse after a game even if it were true

Like I said, the boarding call on Chernichan should have been a 5 minute, and the Fox one was a flop.

The officiating was inconsistent, which was the problem. If they call a ton of penalties, fine, do it all game. If they call none, fine, do it all game. BUT, the calls throughout the game were super inconsistent.

A couple of inside calls, including the 5 minute penalty, were called by the outside ref with the inside ref choosing not to from a better vantage point. There is nothing worse officiating than having someone make calls that are yours when they are out of position.

But, NMU played pretty terrible and the LSSU goalie made a few really good saves as well, and LSSU definitely played better. This young NMU has been consistently inconsistent. I hope to see them play a better game tonight!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Willy i will never argue with you about the ccha refs because we have been on the short end many times this year. maybe you heard about it. I think the refs suck also but northern put themselves in that position last night.

I agree, BMW is a natural and offers some nice insights.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

After another sweep at Northern Michigan I look forward to the next batch of excuses by the members of the coup and the propaganda machine should be in full force all weekend and for the rest of the season. You people are so predictable!

Good call, TruthSquad/TruthSerum/BootJimRoque.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

That was a fun weekend of hockey. I never thought when driving up to Marquette on Friday that the Lakers would pull out 2 wins.
