According to the 2012-2013 schedule thread, the Lakers will travel to Bemidji October 19-20 and travel to Bowling Green Feb. 1-2.

Also looks like the Lakers will be traveling to Wisconsin the last weekend of December. I thought I heard Roque say that trip had been cancelled, but it looks like it could be back on.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

We know Bemidji is 10/19-20 away and we know UAH will be coming to the Soo sometime. I have also heard that there will be a home and home with MI Tech and then Union is coming here. That would mean Wisconsin would be out.

I'm guessing Union might not be coming up to the Sault if the Lakers do go to Wisconsin. If so, what a bummer since Union was a Frozen Four team.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Two quick notes.

Cast one big thumbs up for Bill Crawford. Best announcer we heard all year. We bought all the away games as well and there was not an announcer all year as good. Bill is a complete professional, knows all the names of both teams, and gives you his opinion of whats going on out there. He says when he thinks the Lakers are being out played, he says when they are dominating. He says when they are getting out played and are lucky to have a lead, and he says when the Lakers are outplaying opponent.

The Lakers had a big D man in on a visit this weekend.

How soon you all forget... Two Words... Francis Anzalone... BEST PLAY BY PLAY PERSON IN THE HISTORY of LSSU... We were lucky to have FA....

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Uhh, didn't Anzalone only win one national title at LSSU, and Jeff Jackson win two?

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

It is about time you made an accurate and truthful statement instead of some of the vitriol and falsehoods that have been said by a bunch of you people about the family that did so much for your little college, putting it on the map, winning and responsible for three national championships.

The Truth Is Out There.....
TBA

So if Frank was responsible for the title won under Jackson in'94, four years after he left, was he also responsible for the 10 & 11 win seasons under Roque three and four years after he was gone the second time. By your logic, it would seem to be so. The truth is right there.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Frank built the Laker hockey program from the ground up and because of his hard work, determination, and winning attitude it carried over into those other National Championships, some with his own players, but all with the winning attitude and system he built. He was rebuilding an even more decimated program in his second tour before he was so rudely replaced in the dead of night. The best two years the head of the current administration had was his first couple of years, Frank's kids, Frank's system, when they finished sixth place and made the Joe Louis Arena the following year. All because of what Frank Anzalone was building again.

The Truth Is Out There....
TBA
Frank's system? You mean Jim Roque maintained Frank's system throughout the 2005-06 season, and continued to use it in 2006-07?

Frank had four years to get to double digits in league wins in his second go-around. In his first stint, it only took him to the second year to achieve what Bill Selman imploded. There was no improvement in his second go around, just stagnation.

Pretty sure Roque's system is what got that team to the Joe. What's happened since then? I don't know.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Don't put too much stock in the Truth Squad. He calls a kid with 10 points in 51 games a "star." That shows what he knows about hockey. He proves the point that the two people least capable of honestly evaluating a kid's value to the team are his girlfriend and his father. If every kid was as good as dear old dad thinks he is, you'd be loaded with all Americans. If he got as much ice time as his girlfriend thinks he should, there'd be a lot more Anzalone type 9 win seasons. There's a reason these guys are on the 4th line or wearing a coat and tie on game night. Coaches are judged by wins. They don't sit kids who follow the rules and play well. They don't sit or get rid of players just to screw them. He worships the ground Frank Anzalone walks on, and there's a lot of ground there because Frank's been fired (even after winning seasons) every place he's been since in at least four leagues. Gee, I wonder why. He gets unhappy if people reference his kid. Of course the fact that he's on here ranting continually is what brings attention to his kid in the first place. If the clown didn't bring the wood and add the gas, there'd be no fire! Now there's the TRUTH!

(EDIT: Rephrase opening sentence, remove "You people.")

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Looks pretty good. It will be interesting to watch him in October.
We don't do much recruiting in the AJHL. The last guy we had from there was Pat Inglis. The McKay kid is listed as being from Toronto and played in the OJHL 2 years ago, so it could be that one of our current players know him.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

Nobody is mentioning Tim Opie. He was recruited through Roque's personal network, although he had had to sit for a season, I don't know why.
He was said to be a great recruit for the Lakers and very good forward.

Opie when i saw him play in T.C. played with pretty good skill and grit but he has sinse quit hockey and transfered to i think Western Mich for school purposes.

I heard there were some personal issues involved.

Re: LSSU Hockey 2012-2013

What i heard was he did not have the desire to continue playing the game. I heard that at one of the pod shows I think. If there was anything more to the story I have no idea.

McKay seems to be the type of player the Lakers like to go after ( hard working blue collar seems to have developed well in juniors ) from reading what his junior coach said in his assesment of him. I have no problem with them type of players they are very important pieces to any good team even in the pros, but it sure would be nice to see the next Rolston come down the pipe.

I think the coach's have recruited well for the Lakers don't get me wrong just MHO.
