Lowell/Boston University (Home and home), 2/22 & 2/23

Re: Lowell/Boston University (Home and home), 2/22 & 2/23

To call BU "listless" tonight would be giving them too much credit. They just don't see to have any spark, any life in them.
The only emotion came from Parker after Lowell's third goal, and he might have been having flashbacks to his feisty former self.

And Lowell, they are an incredibly boring team to watch. I think they are even more boring than Vermont, whom I always considered the most boring team stylistically to watch in recent years, even in 2009 when they were very good.
That is not to say that Lowell isn't efficient. They were much better disciplined. But they are boring with a Capital "B."

O...ok?

Tonight's official attendance, 4757. Oof.

This BU fan would accept a "boring" and yet systematic win any day of the week. They were hustling and played hard to my eye. Maybe it looked boring because we're used to watching our squad giving up countless odd man rushes, breakaways, playing short-handed for 33% of each game, and constantly being out of position?

Speaking of that...did anybody else notice the Megan-Hohmann line change when the puck was in their own zone? Gave Lowell their first goal. Lowell had BU hemmed in (as everybody does these days) and those guys decided they had enough and made a beeline for the bench. I actually said aloud, "Where are they going?" BOOM...goal. I'd take boring like UML anytime.

Re: Lowell/Boston University (Home and home), 2/22 & 2/23

Tom Ryan and Bernie agreed that Lowell has better forwards. I think the quote was something like "Lowell's 12 forwards are better than BU's 12 forwards...it's that simple." Tom also said that right now he thinks Lowell is the best team in the league.

All of which doesn't mean a thing and is in no way an attempt to "absolve" BU of the abysmal effort.

bernie better start toeing the company line. jackpa has said on numerous times that the departures in no way hurt bu's depth.

Hellebuyck in net tonight? I hope so!

If BU puts forth the same offensive effort as last night, you could put one of the kids team goalies in net and have a good shot at winning. Most uninspiring shutout I've ever seen. Not his fault, we didn't get a single quality shot on net.

Great game for UML, dominated the play other than a few sloppy conservative power plays. Everyone hustling, playing smart and tough. BU had big problems getting out of their own end. UML was on but I was surprised that BU was just...well..just bad. I expected the frustrated stupid penalties and general laziness frrom BU but kept waiting for the wake up call flashes of brilliance. Never came. UMASS Amherst was better. Connor wasn't tested often, but he came up big on a few shots that could have turned the tide.

Tsongas was packed, I'd guess around 6500. Great time, crowd was tuned in! UML looking like the real deal.

This a very poor BU team. A good forecheck and they fold. 20 more penalty minutes than shots on goal. A sure sign of a well coached team.

Seated capacity is ~6400. I'd guessed 5700 in the arena, official box score says 5979. Not sure if we do 'walked in the door' or 'tickets sold' on that but close either way.

Nice section for BU, did they provide a bus or was that all private? I'm ok that they didn't have more to cheer about.

Next stop, Conte; hope this level of play continues, may need to elevate a bit more with the Eagles.

From what I was told, student buses from BU.
