The number that really boggles my mind is that if you were next to the reactor core at Chernobyl for not even 2 minutes, you were dead. That is massive.

I think Marvin was concerned with his "illudium Q-36 explosive space modulator."

As a kid some guy in Chicago sponsored "Outer Space Theatre" on Sundays and ran the old Flash Gordon serials. In the first, Ming was screwing with our weather by having the planet Mongo race toward Earth (a pretty neat trick). In the second he had fled to Mars where he allied himself with Azura, Queen of Magic (I thought she was major hot) and had some sort of giant death ray pointed at Earth. In the last serial, Ming was back on Mongo and killing Earthlings with the Purple Death, that left its victims with a purple spot on their foreheads (making it much easier for medical examiners to rule on the cause of death).

The Franz Liszt theme drove me crazy 'till I was able to identify it (Les Preludes). Also, this 3rd serial was made in 1940, the war had started in Europe and Japan was running riot in Mongolia and China. And amazingly, Ming now dressed in a military-type uniform, and looked kinda Japaneesy. As a kid it never occurred to me what a klutz emperor this guy was if an American male model, his airhead girl friend and a science geezer could keep defeating him. Anyway, Purple Death--Ming the Merciless. For sure.

You think the Japanese use the term "Hole to China"? If they do it is silly. China is right next to them. It's like me saying "Burn/Dig a hole to Seattle."
