C'mon Q!
Re: Is it the journey or the trophy that counts...
You can't ever reach the destination without first taking the journey...
You can't ever reach the destination without first taking the journey...
I admit, I'm a destination sort of guy. But if you don't want to lead a miserable life, you sort of have to appreciate both.
Maine was kind of fun to watch this season. The kids played with heart. The offense . . . existed(!). Those things didn't fail. I had a good time following that team, ultimate shortcomings notwithstanding.
So, you'd say this past Maine season wasn't an utter failure? Would you say that you're proud of how they played this season, even though they didn't win the National Championship? Would you feel the same if they'd beat BC, and then lost in the NCAAs?
I think this thread is in response to people who try to make it seem like a team like UNH losing in the Regionals negates anything good they did this season, that we can't be proud of winning the Regular Season title, because they didn't win anything else.
I love the fact that you quote my post where I essentially admit to saying "ZOMG WE WON THE RS TROPHY" a few weeks back, and try to make it sound like I'm saying something different now. Brilliant. It certainly is interesting that 3 weeks ago we had a lot of UNH fans with the "ZOMG WE WON THE RS TROPHY, WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!" and now trophies don't matter but the journey is what matters. It's a George Bush "mission accomplished" from some people.
I never tried to make it sound like you said anything other than what I quoted (and I left the quote untouched). I quoted it because it seemed relevant to what I was about to post as you brought up the UNH RS title, that's all. Of course, I'm sure the original poster wasn't too excited with the RS trophy a few weeks back. You guys get so touchy after these postseason collapses!!!!
The Regular Season title to UNH seems to me like BU's attitude towards the Beanpot. It really is a step on the road and not the end of the road. Those schools, historically, fail after they achieve those goals. I think a solid program uses the regular season to prepare for the postseason.

So "dacomicsbooksguy" is lecture peoples bout making up da fake idenitity now?As opposed to doing so by making up a fake identity and making fun of people anonymously in a stupid accent. Is that what is considered "having a life" these days?
Fanboy, your students chant "thank you seniors" at the Beanpot. History is great, but since 1998 or so, the Beanpot has been BU's only claim to fame in Boston with college hockey since BC has taken over the reigns as the premier program in the city (if not the country).

Oui, I can see from dis poste dat you not taking none a dis to seriusly.Predictable.
There are at least 2 links in my sig that reveal my real name. One of them is quite large - click on it, and find out (and while you're there, donate some money to a worthy cause).
Many people know my real name, where to find me at hockey games, especially at the Whitt (I sit in the same seat every game, and play a cowbell). I am willing to talk to anyone who would like to come over to me and say hi, and I will willingly acknowledge my screen name. I post as myself, and have never adopted a "persona" on here. I am hardly anonymous or a "fake identity". Can you honestly say the same?
I chose this screen name because I happen to be overweight and have a ponytail, and had a goatee at the time (leading a Northeastern fan to exclaim that I looked like said character from The Simpsons). It has actually helped me be LESS anonymous, as the resemblance has led to people from the boards I'd not met guessing my screen name.
And, if those last two posts were examples "spazzing out", then you have a very weak definition of the term. Sorry, lop ear, it takes more than your faux-french accent to rile me.
I sit in the same seat every game, and play a cowbell...I happen to be overweight and have a ponytail
Yeah, I really look like a cross between Brad Pitt and Christian Bale (as Batman, not The Machinist), and I sit in the back row of one of the reserved section, with my arms folded, only clapping when UNH scores. [/sarcasm]Cripes, please tell you you are kidding?
Ohhhh, you got me. I'm totally losing sleep over some anonymous troll on USCHO.Oui, I can see from dis poste dat you not taking none a dis to seriusly.
since 1998 or so, the Beanpot has been BU's only claim to fame in Boston
Not kidding. I'm overweight and have long hair. Are you going to make fun of me for that? As if I haven't heard it my entire life?
