Irish hockey '10-11-Everyone bets on a sure thing, but it takes guts not to fold.

I spoke too soon. The Notre Dame Club of New Hampshire is hosting a meet-up before the game starting at 5:00, which is nice if you're willing to miss the MU-UNH game.

Few fun facts about Manchester, NH. The river that runs through the city is named MERRIMACK. A town just south of Manchester, NH is named MERRIMACK. The county just north of Manchester is called MERRIMACK. MERRIMACK Street runs two blocks north of the Verizon Wireless Center. It's Merrimack, Merrimack, Merrimack everywhere you look!
Somehow, merrimack nh is in Hillsborough county and hillsborough is in Merrimack county!

Welcome to NH irish fans! Hope you enjoy our small slice of the world!

The team flew out to Manchester this evening.

An A320 is an awfully large plane for just a hockey team, so they must be bringing the band and some others as well.

The Airbus A320 isn't that big, as it typically compares to a B737. Usual configuration is 150-164 seats, depending on single or multiple class. It's a narrow body aircraft, but wider than a comparable Boeing so better suited for big athletes. If they took just one plane to NH I would bet it was fairly full. Team, band, and related student staff numbers about 60. Coaches, and gameday support staff is another dozen, and the related athletic department personnel make up another 20 or so. All the gear they travel with (team and band) would add more weight than a typical passenger load of the same size as well.

Can anybody confirm our game on "Comcast Sports-Chicago" tomorrow at 7:30 pm. My U-verse guide has Blackhawks game scheduled.
TIA
Don

It's not on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. The game is on channel 3 on Comcast cable systems in South Bend.

Is there a reason that Ryan Guentzel and Joe Lavin (at least) are clean shaven?:eek::confused:

I may be seeing it wrong but does it look like they shaved off the playoff beards a few days ago and are re-growing them? Maybe a bit of a reset?

I thought the same as far as the regrowing goes. Finally, Mr. JJfP has a better play-off beard than a 22 year old student!:p:D

Congrats on the win and good luck tomorrow. Looking forward to having another CCHA team in St. Paul with us.

I wonder when I'll settle down so I can sleep tonight? I can't believe I didn't get sick as nervous as I was in the OT. I loathe OT when my team is one of the ones playing in it. MC came out en fuego and I feared the worst, but finally...finally!...a little puck luck came our way. Way to go Anders Lee! Hopefully we can all settle down and lose the nervous play.

Congrats Irish fans. Good luck tomorrow! I want a CCHA team in the Frozen four to root for.

Re: Irish hockey '10-11-Everyone bets on a sure thing, but it takes guts not to fold.

Man from the chatter throughout the week, this seemed to be the least likely outcome for a regional final. There were a lot of confident Mack and MU fans, and that was understandable going into the games today. But sometimes a little reminder is needed that you actually have to play the games. A recap of what UNH looked like against Miami would be appreciated. Were the Redhaks a little off, or did UNH get a huge jump from a friendly crowd? Did they look as tentative as we did and get lucky? DO WE HAVE A CHANCE? Oh wait, you have to actually play the game...

Missouri is still clueless about hockey. And yes, he is one of those annoying people who when we were talking about the results of last night's games chimed in with "I didn't even know the Cornhuskers HAD a hockey team." But nothing beats watching these games with my daughter. And thank you Fighting Irish for giving me one more to enjoy tomorrow.

Good luck later tonight. Should be a fun, fast-paced game.
P.S. - I haven't forgotten the big hurt your guys put on UNH in 2008 in Colorado Springs.

But we have because that was 3 years and a completely different team ago.

I'll add my good luck wishes to the coach Jackson, the Irish and all you fans.

I was there in Grand Rapids when the Spartans denied you and Mike Lockert a trip to St. Louis. I hope tonight's outcome will be different.

Good luck tonight, Irish fans. Make it an all-CCHA versus all-WCHA Championship.
