Irish hockey '10-11-Everyone bets on a sure thing, but it takes guts not to fold.

What a difference a week makes- see you all in St. Paul!!

Wow. Just wow. After spending last weekend in what seemed like a colder version of hell, we can't believe we can say were going to St Paul. Mikey was a wall tonight. Got a tough challenge facing the "home team" in the Bulldogs but lets keep this ball rolling!!

As much as I've ragged on Mike Johnson all season long, I have to now post that he was stellar in net tonight. He made some great saves, kept them in the game from the opening face off til the final buzzer and the one goal he did let in was a given considering he had 2 UNH guys 2 feet from him uncontested. Props to Billy Maday for a productive weekend, Riley Sheahan for the nice dish and hard work, Stephen Johns for making up for last night and Sam Calabrese for a solid effort on D. What the hay...props to the whole team for the effort this weekend.

Got my plane ticket to Minneapolis as I have to fly out while the rest of my posse gets to drive (I hate obligations like jobs  ). Just waiting for ND to get their allotment. Can. Not. Wait. Pat Regan, here we come! :D

I like that ND is starting to make a habit of joining me at the Frozen Four. :D

Aren't you as responsible as anyone for putting us on the right path? Didn't we make our first NCAA tournament about the time you found your way here? I think maybe you are our secret weapon!!!

A new arena deserves a new banner. We didn't get it done in the last weekend of the regular season, nor last weekend at the Joe, but I think the Compton family will be pleased enough to open up the new building with a banner from Saint Paul.

Not quite—my first season following ND was 2004-2005, and the less said about that one (except that it brought us Jackson), the better! (I liked to say that we were slow and lacking for skill, and made up for it by getting beaten on every battle in the corners...)

The BC game (and TJ Jindra's last-second SHG winner) and the forthcoming Jackson era. That almost sums it up, but there's one more good thing to say about the "who cares, we still suck, especially that guy" era, Craig -- there was a lot more pizza-per-person in the student section.

Congrats to the Fighting Irish. Here's another CCHA regular (go DAWGS) rooting for one of our own. Best of luck to you in the Frozen Four, we'll be cheering you on to the national championship (my dad must be rolling over in his grave, hearing me spew this 'venom' about ND; he was so against the Irish, especially since he was Methodist).

Again, GO Notre Dame!!!!!

Congrats everyone and good luck in St. Paul. I'm thinking of wearing my ND Hockey golf shirt today, but Mrs. P thinks it could be bad juju for the future! :D

Congratulations to the University of Notre Dame on taking the Northeast Regional in Manchester, NH this weekend. All three games were "edge of your seat" exciting. Seemed like the Irish apllied a little "rope-a-dope" strategy against Merrimack on Saturday, but they stood tall, took Merrimack's best shots, and came out the victor. I admit I shed a lil tear (figuratively speaking) at Merrimack's defeat, but if they had to lose to anyone best they lose to the eventual winner of the region!

As for the UNH game, THAT WAS IMPRESSIVE! UNH had it all going for them. UNH played the early game on Saturday so they were well rested, Notre Dame had to play into overtime against tough opponent, and UNH essentially had the home ice advantage. I guess they did not figure that Notre Dame would come out with a stellar overall performance (especially from their goalie)!

So, GO IRISH and please, please, please bring that championship back to South Bend!

Congratulations on a great run to the FF! And with a huge freshman class no less. Quite satisfying to have the CCHA so well represented this year.

Re: Irish hockey '10-11-Everyone bets on a sure thing, but it takes guts not to fold.

I am looking for some Notre Dame season ticket holders that are not headed to St. Paul. If you would like to use your pull to buy tickets and make a little extra $$ please let me know.

So since we have a little downtime before our Irish takes the ice again, I have this question to pose to you guys. My dad brought this up the other night and figured it was a good enough to pose here. Does us making the Frozen Four, no matter the outcome that will come in a couple of weeks, validate this season in your eyes?

I was happy when they had a strong game against Merrimack. Everything since that has been house money.

I will never consider a Frozen Four season to be anything less than a success, even if I think the team may have underachieved a bit during the regular season.
