If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

I disagree. Like I said though, I give BC fans credit for having anyone there at all.

I agree. At this point, the NCAA should just mail them the **** trophy and let everyone stay home and watch reruns of "Mystery, Alaska".

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Yep, the 2011-12 Gophers traveled back in time to 1929 and 1940 and played against those teams so that there would be a huge mismatch.

I have no idea what this means.

And you calling out anyone for "sour grapes" is the epitome of hypocrisy.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Nope, I believe 18,000. I think there was probably 17,000 there.

So that corresponds to 40-1 does it? I was there and there was about 6000 Gopher fans and about 3k BC fans (maybe another 1-2k for the final).

Why am I wasting time with this circus clown. Dayum.

It means yes, Brock Hall was probably a weak opponent by today's standards, but in 1940 they were a good team. They were better than Michigan, Michigan Tech, Yale, etc.... so your statement about beating weak opponents was........well, weak.

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

I'm torn on the quandary of how to treat Minnesota's non-NCAA titles. On one hand, I'm a die-hard fan of a professional football team that considers its pre-Super Bowl titles as a significant part of the team's history (I hate to be the Wisconsin hockey fan that brings up the Packers, but it's an apt comparison here), so I know the importance of looking beyond the culturally accepted norm for judging a team's championships. On the other hand, I can respect the notion that the NCAA chose not to award titles until there was reasonable competition among member schools- sort of like how I can't take a women's college hockey title from 1992 very seriously.

Tangentially related, I am in no way torn on the issue of JDUBBS being a royal asshat that annoys even his own fanbase.

Most UMinn fans I've met have been great. I can honestly say this "should have been aborted fool" is the exception to the rule.

It's fun for a little bit because I don't know if he actually believes all the garbage he types.

Of course I do. And I'm not being unreasonable or making personal attacks. You just don't like what I have to say. It was about 40-1 at the Frozen Four. Gopher fans were everywhere, and I saw very few BC fans. That's my honest assessment.

One thing is for sure. This guy ain't just fishin', he's dragging a big old net about a half mile long off the back of his boat, stirring up the bottom and loading up the hold with some whoppers. :D

He's had lots of practice.

Ok, so if you watched the championship game, you would guess that there were fewer than 500 BC fans there? That is absurd. Because 40 times 500 equals 20,000. Which is roughly the size of the arena.

So, the guy who trashes our program more than Sioux fans all of a sudden cares about our image? Spare me.

For the record, Scooby doesn't really trash our program. He just has incredibly low/negative expectations.

If I told you once, I've told you a million times! Quit exaggerating! :p
