Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, and Woodstock fame.

You could say he's Going Home.

[Hugo Chavez is] dead, Jim.

Something about the manner of his passing reminded me of Oscar Wilde's story The Picture of Dorian Gray. How many tyrannical dictator ever die of old age? [edit: Fidel Castro, sigh] Those that aren't killed by their own people (or themselves!) first all seem to die prematurely of cancer or complications thereof.

For those too young-please watch the Woodstock DVD for the extended video cut of I'm Going Home. I was there in August 1969 as part of the medical support and by the stage. I think 50% of my tinnitus was caused by that song. Just incredible! RIP:(

:( This makes me sad. I was a big fan of Alvin Lee and TYA throughout my youth. Still have every thing they recorded in both vinyl and CD form. Still listen to them from time to time. They used to call him "Fingers" back in the day. RIP Alvin. Fathers of little schoolgirls everywhere will rest easier too I'm sure.

Decades old rumor that OW said "Either the drapes go or I do" on his deathbed. Should be put to ... rest.

He apparently said "My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or other of us has to go."

Completely off the death pool topic, but he was asked at customs, "Do you have anything to declare?" and he responded, "only my genius". Wilde wasn't a tyrannical dictator but Bartlett's is rife with Wilde quotations.

Wow, one of my favorite bands back then. "I'm going home by helicopter"

I'm sure they're hoisting a few in Sudbury in Tom's memory.
