Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

So, a question for the bu folk.

I have been going to games since 96 and sit in my current section since 2001. Around then I noticed an older couple, probably late 50s to early 60s who tend to come to Matthews when we play bu, or there is no bu game that night. The older gentlemen typically wears a sports coat, type you would see in a movie about college life in the 50s, what a profesor would be wearing, and the women wears a red beret, sometimes a scarf and loves to yell in a high pitched voice, Go buuu. He normally carries an umbrella.

Up until last season they typically sat upstairs in the corner all the way up top, section 50. They did not last season due to students being there, but I saw them walking upstairs to the other side of the arena.

I have also seen them at T's pub after games sitting at one of the bar tables.

What's their story? Parker's brother or sister? Long time fans? I highlight this because they seem to be part of the "bu hockey scene" if you will.

::hangs self::
I'm hoping Cronin's pre-game speech is more uplifting.

BU folks: What's been the problem with Milan in his first three games? I obviously haven't seen any of his play, but his numbers are abnormally bad (in as much as any numbers can be abnormal for a sophomore), has it been him or the D?

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

Huskies01, good post. Valid points, but i have to tell you.. (especially for our freshman).. if they get to beat the National Champs tonight.. it is a morale booster at the least & might have a positive impact down the road in more than one way. Again, no easy task but even for Rawlings to get a 'W' with the place packed.. might get a taste of 'big gm picture' which will help him down the road be it HE playoffs or (hopefully).. beyond.

Let's get the 2 pts tonight. Go Huskies :)

Just sayin NU did dispatch defending national champs last year too...

anyway GO HUSKIES GO!

your not playing last years bu squad, your playing this one.

They can totally win this game. But that would be out of character from what we have seen the past few seasons where we have lost in so many different ways to them its gotten tiresome.

I would agree with this wholeheartedly.

Sports is an abusive relationship.

"The Cardinal" and Sue. Not sure what their story is, except that they're long time fans and friends of the BU radio announcer.

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

someone spent a long time figuring out which rooms to do that in... You gotta figure they're also gone door to door in the dorm as well...

Any guesses when the line will start to form to grab the remaining 500 tickets?

dawn-ish, seriously with the turnout wednesday i wouldn't be surprised to see a kid or two outside matthews at like 2.

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

So, let me get this straight- the rooms they want to be light are dark on the map, and the rooms they want to be dark are light on the map? Boy, you guys really do have some bright people over there.

Does it really matter that they colored the plan that way?

I'd rather fill in 20 windows with black, rather than 75. I guess my priorities are elsewhere though.

EDIT: I bet all the bu fans are counting the windows to point out that my estimate was wrong.

So was that you in that photo? You appeared to be offended.

If so, don't wear a red top hat and scarf to a game.

Absolutely not me.

He's let in some softies, but there's been just as many off defensemen - 2 at umass and one at lowell come to mind, in addition to being left hung out to dry by lazy or inattentive defensemen. he's clearly not been in the exact form he was last year, but going 29-2 is an unrealisitc expectation. he's still capable of stealing a game - he's the reason joe periera had the door open to get the gwg against michigan when they were gunning on all cylinders in the 3rd period. (which is a scary sight to see)

But what a squad they had last yr. And until we do beat 'em, its advantage Nat'l Champs. Last yr (barring the 'Pot gm), we played at BU twice.. (with a loss & a tie). Then of course tying them at Matthews again.

This yr we host them at Matthews twice.. i would absolutely love to have this series.. least get 3 pts at home. Oh well, W or L.. it'll be fun atmosphere tonight & our freshman (and theirs i'm sure).. gotta love that :)

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

No game at Matthews, past, present or future will ever eclipse The Surge game in terms of fun for all involved.

To attempt to go to Matthews and have more fun would be futile.

Hence, I will not attempt it.

(...and this from a BU fan)

what was the over/under for the line starting at matthews? i came home from co-op at 4 and walked by, there was already a line forming.

Re: Huntington.Comm NU/BU 11/6

Huntington.commeth.. :)

Both goalies played outstanding. Too bad there had to be a loser. I think both offenses are lost.. where are they?
(BU could not score on a 5X3 or 6x4).. NU could not score on their 5x3 either (i really miss Steve Quailer!).

I think both defenses played decent (i really liked our defensive effort in several areas), but i did not like how many penalties we took.

Huskies 01.. how did Rawlings do under pressure (er..sellout) tonight?

I really saw him correct a lot of his mistakes from earlier gms.. bye week boded well for him. Awesome gm for him as a freshman.. he was (to me), player of the gm, no question.. and held his composure throughout.

Its nice to beat the Nat'l Champs & crosstown rival in a sellout (BC last yr..deja vu).. now let's use this as momentum. I'm happy for the freshman (players & students in attendance).

G'luck to BU rest of the season.. see you guys come March... (wait a minute.. come Beanpot where you'll thump us.. right?) :)

Go Huskies, BC nxt.. no easy task but glad to see we have GOALIE.. still looking for offense.. where are you guys? :)
Go team!

our offense was partially in the seats behind where I was. we looked lost on the PP without warso and bonino. it also prevented us from using the effective 3 dman PP formation that worked so well vs. Lowell. Rawlings was impressive despite hoards of terrible weak shots from BU forwards, but he made some key saves to preserve that win. certainly better than I'd heard of him.
