Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

No, there is virtually no chance that a team would launch the puck toward the net every time they gain the blue line. This is a faulty line of thinking that simply aims to further an agenda that isn't supported by anything of substance.

You're not to be taken seriously. NU faced QPac around the time they were mired in what seemed to be a season of futility which, as it seemed, was based upon the fact that both goalies were allowing in soft goals.

Rather than continuing to speak from a point of ignorance as well as an under-sated need to be correct, why don't you go watch the game. QPAC threw everything on net. My season tickets are right behind the Visitors bench and Pecknold et al were in the players' ears the entire game..."Everything goes on net...everything goes on net..."

Amazing how much you know about this particular game without having watched it...

Why must Northeastern always try to dominate the debate

Everyone else has so much more faith in BU than BU fans do - I believe there is something to be said for cautious optimism. ;)

Where do these NU "fans" come from? Please don't group us in with them. As for my biased opinion on the pre-season poll, I think BC is a little high, NU is a little low and all the other Hockey East teams are about right. That said, those polls are about as accurate as the Fox News presidential polls.

I agree, it seems like they gave York a ton of trust and likewise lack trust in Madigan. I wouldn't call either unfair.

Chuck, where did I say that I was satisfied with that? Hint, I didn't. All, I said was that objectively BC's season was better than Northeastern's. Personally, any time BC has a team deep and talented enough that they have 7 drafted players leave early and still have the top four scorers coming back from that team, then anything less than a National Championship is a disappointment.

It's not a question as to whether you're "satisfied" or not (personally I could care less).

Objectively, many of your fellow BC fans have been on the record long AND loud that a regular season title (see small letters) means jack squat, and winning some legitimate hardware (see Hockey East Tourney Champions - see those capital letters) means more than winning a few regional games (small letters again) but not winning the whole enchilada. I'm pretty sure last season resulted in no new hardware at The Heights, unless they've changed their standards recently when I wasn't paying closer attention.

I don't want to be a spoilsport - like you're apparently trying to do with the NU fans - but I think you'll likely have noticed some of the usually more vociferous BC posters have gone quiet on this.

Hmmmm ... why might that be???

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

My attention has been elsewhere in this thread. I can only handle so much verbal diarrhea. Chuck, does it kill you that you have to argue for NU instead of UNH? ;)

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

As for BC last year, looked like things might come off the rails at the end of the year, barely getting by uvm and losing to nu but they rebounded nicely in tourney to reach FF and **** near tied that game up against qpac. Nothing to be ashamed of.

My stance hasn't changed on hockey east reg season vs. tourney. Give me the tourney title every day of the week.

Attack zone time would be a great stat to look at. To my knowledge, tracking of this stat is nonexistent at the college level and only used occasionally in the NHL.

This will be my last post on the subject. I've spent too much time trying to convince someone who won't listen that something did not occur the way they perceived it to. And it wasn't really an important point in the first place.

To end this:

1. NU did outplay QU that game and you can't simply look at a shots sheet to determine who actually carried play and created more grade A chances

2. Gr8Sk8M8 isn't worth responding to, he's the guy who never left his mom's basement

3. Anyone super confident about NU finishing high in HEA probably hasn't watched the last 30 years of NU hockey..more actually

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Yes...witnessing the game which is available in archive somewhere. Any chance that QPac launched a puck toward the net just about every time they hit the blueline? What would that do to the *stats*?

Where does attack zone time figure into your metrics?

I knew we couldn't get through a preseason thread with someone bringing in the old eye ball test. Bah.. who cares about stats.... just watch em in action.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

He also watched the nchc consolation game when i don't even think it was on tv...very impressive.

Mildly annoying, yes. But the UNH slide has been a work in progress for over a decade now, and it's something I saw coming a long time ago, so unfortunately (for better or worse), I've learned to live with it. NU has always been my Beanpot team, so I'm not a stranger to taking their side.

Fair take, all around. I'm pretty sure Nick and most of the others would agree. My work here is done. :)

Grandma's actually...Mom couldn't afford a house...

So, of course, I'm voting for Trump...he REALLY cares about me and my Grandma's basement...it's going to be the BEST basement ever...everyone else has a MUCH better basement...we're losing the basement war but under a Ttump Presidency GR-R-R-RANDMA'S BASEMENTS....WILL BE GREAT...AGAIN!!!

I'm not in the job of predicting but when I see stuff like ^^that^^, I laugh heartily.

BC/BU/ND/UML it's all about who they have brought in to replace what they lost. What you should ALSO remember is what else they lost...and that was HE to NU.

The only Top Tier HE team to outplay NU was BU. Looking at the in season meetings, NU OUTPLAYED UML, BC, ND even though the scoreboard results were mixed.

NU has the CORE of what got them there returning this season and they have picked up some very talented incoming players. Look at that roster and, again, without making predictions, on paper NU looks superior. You CANNOT argue otherwise.

So you UML/BC/BU folks can sit here and stroke yourselves silly over "potential". NU has PROVEN returning for the season and that should be and needs to be respected.

I'm not any of the above folks but really, you need to go back to decaf.

You weren't being responded to nor were you an apparent or meaningful part of this discussion.

But send me your resume and when Dr. Laura retires we'll bring you in for an interview...

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

You realize those are highlights, right? There is never a score bar in the graphic. The game wasn't on TV.

The game was offered day of.

You really do talk without knowing.
