Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

You know, I had been pretty happy for NU finally getting off the schneid, after this thread I think I'm back to rooting against them.

Pretty much every fan base has a rogue or two not deserving of serious attention. AFAIK, we have only one.

Alright where does BC have to finish for York to win COTY? ;)

Where BC finishes is almost irrelevant. York just needs to retire. As long as he finishes in the top 4 and announces his retirement he is a shoo in.

it could all come together nicely, as it did in 2009, or any of the following could NOT happen:

- Oettinger is as good as advertised, pushes Lacouvee to either up his game or sit on the bench
- Hickey and McLeod rebound from subpar sophomore years and look more like they did as freshmen
- JFK and Greenway continue to develop like second rounders should
- The freshmen contribute to at least 75% of expectations.
- Nothing major on the injury front

I hope the leadership is strong and the chemistry is good. If so, I'm optimistic.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

As you know, NU's case was exceptional. Caught a few teams in off years in the league, caught some teams on bad nights, and still had a one in a million run with a dopey coach and a ragtag group of players that really is short on talent. Not even worth discussing, we'll let them have their day in the sun and they can go back to sitting in the shade for the next 30 years.

Nickie Boy,
Over the last few years you have made a lot of ill considered, uninformed and nasty posts. This was all of those and we can now add jealousy to your repertoire! Thank you for demonstrating these unenviable qualities. Go work for Trump. You are obviously one of his people. You and your post are not worth any further discussion.

Last few years? Try last few decades if you take out the uninformed part. The fact that I am informed is why you don't like my posts. Enjoy your day.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

A brief legitimate (maybe) question to the NU fandom.

9 months ago you were calling for Madigan's head, since, among other reasons, he did not seem capable of coaching the talent he had collected to their potential. Nine months later many of you are taking offense that the rest of the conference, who remembers who you were for the other 4 years he was your coach, still does not trust him the way we do the other 5 coaches (I am including Jackson in this, ignore him if you want) who have proven to be better coaches pretty much throughout his tenure (except maybe 3(?) weekends last season).

Care to explain how he turned it around? Has his style changed at all? Seems like the same person to me, it just so happens your players decided to play defense for 3 months.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

BTW ya I'm jealous and wish I could trade in seeing my school win 4 national titles in person (especially that glorious 24-hour run I made in Tampa with no sleep and no hotel room) with being an NU fan and seeing my team fade into obscurity every February except that one time they won a trophy in the last 20 years!

For greater perspective of your stupidity, not even PC fans or UML fans are jealous of NU.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Man, the last time NU got this much preseason hype was the 2009-2010 season. Or maybe it was heading into 14-15 season. Both those seasons ended with a .500 record. As defending Hockey East champs, let's just see how the Huskies deal with prosperity, a target on their back. NU hasn't had back to back winning seasons since Ben Smith was behind the bench in 93-94 and 94-95.
