Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Except fans from Northeastern and Providence, right? No playoffs for you, no flaming for you :p

(let it begin)

Well if you're going to go there, you can probably say UVM and UMass fans shouldn't say anything as they don't really belong in the playoffs this year...

The NU fans are in denial... I haven't seen an off season thread yet, don't be surprised if they come flame anyway!

Yeah lets make it a 6 team tournament from now on. Oops that's too many how about a 4 team tournament, but dang then UML wouldn't be in it either.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

They can flame on behalf of Merrimack since the Warriors only have like 2 fans on here.

But Hokydad more than makes up for those two in any situation where Merrimack's goaltending is mentioned (or even if it's not mentioned).

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

hahahah i can represent the mack in the flaming, lets leave hokydad out, i feel no desire to resume the merrimack goaltending arguments.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

Canatta is a very good goalie, he may not have had a great first half of the year but he has played incredible the past month plus aside from a game or two. but please lets not start the merrimack goalie debate im sure hokydad already smells the blood in the water, he probably set his computer to alert him any time merrimack goalies are mentioned.

Who do you think you are telling me I can't flame in this thread??!?!?!?! Since it is anyone's tournament, I was the first to claim it as my own and declared NU the winners of it. You all can go home now. Especially those from the University of No Hardware. :D

Nah. Although I will root for them(no I won't, I'll just root against bu, bc, unh, and maine only because they couldn't take 2 friggin' points at home against umass... )

Yes and no. I wouldn't say that we're in denial, cause that's just a river in egypt, but disappointed. We can't have anything nice without being pooped on the next year. I think we're more lazy than in denial. There is still hockey to talk about and we could somehow still end up as a TUC before the NCAA's. Which would make us the worst TUC EVAR!!!!

So here goes nothing!!!

What's wrong with this picture....

Scott Darling, Blaise McDonald, and Jack Parker walk out of a bar....

How'd your team do compared to expectations?

How'd you do against these "non-playoff teams" (tied with UML in PWR)?

The act grows old.

Re: Hockey East: Anyones Tournament

It has been described and elaborated on for years that the Hockey East is the deepest conference top to bottom in the country and that it is anyone's tournament. This is debatable on several levels but in recent years the tournament has belonged to either BU or BC. This year however teams like Merrimack, UMass Lowell, Maine and UMass Amherst are all dangerous and have as good a chance of winning as they every have.

My guess from watching the teams this year is that Boston College is probably the best team overall but it is my too small a margin to guarentee them tournament favorites as single elimination in the semi's and championship games make it even harder to predict.

I honestly believe that no. 8 UVM has just as good a chance to win as no. 1 UNH. Here is my prediction however just for fun.

UNH v. UVM 2-1 series
BC v. UMass Amherst 2-0 series
BU v. Merrimack 2-1 series
Maine v. UMass Lowell 2-1 series
------------------------------------------
UNH v. BU
BC v. UML
------------------------------------------
BC v. BU

I think BU has a good shot because of three reasons. 1. I am a BU fan and admit to being impartial. 2. They need to win to have an NCAA berth so they will be extra motivated and 3. They have more talent and experience than Merrimack and UNH and have shown they can beat BC. However, I think you can make an argument for each team winning the tournament this year.

i think because the league has been so tight this year that home ice is more imortant this year than in years past.

agree with you the one team that is most likely to advance to the garden that does not have home ice is uml imho simply because maine played so poorly down the stretch and is without darling. merrimack has played well this year although better at home but it wouldn't surprise if they advance. uvm will come out strong friday night but unh has too much fire power and uvm will find it too difficult to overtake unh at home in this series.
