Beanpot is always the first two Mondays in February. Games will be on NESN.

Re: Hockey East 2011 - 2012 :

that's the CBSSPorts package
What is NESN doing

I'm guessing that it took them so long to work out the CBS schedule, it prevented the finalization of the NESN or Comcast schedule. I'm assuming that when it's announced, it will be light on early season games since those networks have already, likely, found alternative programming.

I think this was handled poorly.

Re: Hockey East 2011 - 2012 :

What's the comcast schedule? The nesn Friday night schedule doesn't usually start till after the new year anyway and if you look at the composite league schedule on the league site, I'm pretty sure those games are already marked for 7:30 starts

Re: Hockey East 2011 - 2012 :

Just my .02 but I really don't see any current HEA members going anywhere. If there's any vulnerability at all, it would be Lowell if the state legislature plays budgetary slash-and-burn but then again, MMeehan seems to have enough political clout to ensure this doesn't happen.

UMass-Lowell now owns the Tsongas Center. Previously, one of the reasons to shutter the UML program was the cost of ice time (due to City of Lowell managing the facility) and the lack of prime dates for UML due to AHL competition. Now the university owns an arena that the state has invested over 20 million on and UML hockey is the sole major tenant. UML hockey is the safest it's ever been.

Does anyone else follow Hockey East on Twitter? Do they have a 14-year old managing it?

Does this mean there will not be beer sold at Tsongas?!?

Re: Hockey East 2011 - 2012 :

I am so reluctant to get on twitter but I feel like I have to at this point

Oh, it's not anything bad. Didn't mean to get you all excited or wondering what the issue was. It just seems to me (and I am probably in the minority) that when you manage a Twitter page for a group you should speak in the group's voice, not your's. It's a nit pick.

Re: Hockey East 2011 - 2012 :

That isnt you already as "fakejackparker"?!? :D

I think there should be a new thread for all of fake jack's tweets

It just seems like that's where all the information is now. Pretty sure Patch Alber's broken jaw last year was first seen on twitter. All the players are on there too and every now and then might have an interesting tidbit.

There's also a FakeJerryYork, and I think other HE coaches.

Oh, I completely agree with you. I thought you said that based on my post. :o I just opened a Twitter account last month, still trying to get the hang of it. I seem to get more news than what I post. As you can probably tell from my posts here, I have a hard time with a character limit. :)

Yea same here. It's kinda cool and helps you stay on top of things but it can also be really annoying when certain entities put out totally meaningless drivel every few minutes just for the helluvit. (Are you listning @NHLBruins?)

It seems like it sometimes. I know the guy running the @ncaaicehockey account is (or was last season) an intern and at least knowledgeable about college hockey. :)

JD, I was hesitant to join Twitter but it really has changed my life. I am disabled and don't get out much, so Twitter has made the world so much more accessible to me. Watching sports on TV with hundreds of people talking about the same game is about as good as being there (but with cheaper food and drinks). A certain other college hockey website also has the tweetcast, which allows you to log in and tweet about the game and read other tweets about the same game. It's a great way to keep tabs on games around the country.

Just avoid the pop culture crap and keep your active feed to just your friends and topics in which you have an interest.

And yes, I think all the Hockey East coaches except PC, Lowell and ND have fake accounts.

PS: Scarlet, feel free to follow back :p

Or a 75 year old.. If they don't have one, HEA needs a social media relations officer. Their facebook account is also not even a "fan" page but still a "person" page which makes no sense since they have to approve everyone who follows it instead of just blasting it out there.

Probably 95% of college students and recent alumni have facebook or twitter, these are outlets for cheap marketing that our fair league should really pursue.

Hell, the Cape Cod League has a surprisingly active twitter/fbook account that posts scores and updates daily during the summer.
