Last 2 games?
Last 2 games?
Wut?
Want to try that again?
5-8 in their last 13? got swept at home vs. UMass the last week of the season? 4-10 on the road? People remember the win vs. BU and the last two games of the UML series, but they really didn't play vs. BC, despite the 6 goal effort. I guess I"m starting to see that Maine may be a fraud afterall.
They had a lousy end of the season. From November thru late February they had a pretty good run. Didn't play vs BC? OK.Don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

Stupid post by jcarter as usual. Maine, for the most part, had a lousy season last year but because Nyquist is back and they played well in their last three games, people are jumping on the Maine bandwagon.
I think Merrimack has a similarly explosive player in Da Costa and a much better goaltending situation. I guess people will always think of MC as MC (myself included).
And I guess what I'm saying is that you need to take a big step back. Stop being a BC fan for a minute, if possible. Your standards are impossible. And Maine's old standards aren't appropriate, either. In 2000, it would have been a lousy season, sure. In 2010, though? That's crazy-talk.
Maine had a crappy start to the season and a crappy end to the regular season. Coincidentally or not, both occurred around the same time as suspensions to the #1 goaltender. It's hard to argue with what went on in-between, though. And it's even harder to argue, as you did, that it was a lousy season for the most part.
In recent years, it would be generous to describe Maine as offensively inept. Maine scored 86 goals in 2008-9. 77 in 2007-8. Their leading scorer that season was Wes Clark (with 10). This season they scored 143. The senior class only accounted for 13 of those.
OK, first of all, there is one fairly realistic thing that could happen this summer which would really humanize BC.
Yes, their offense is loaded, most of them are slated to come back, and they have minimal flight risks. They'll be starting a goalie with 2 NCs in his first 3 years and an NHL drafted defense nearly top to bottom. Their's to lose, right?
Their offense will be great, and Muse will be there, but I don't think its unrealistic to think *this summer* NHL teams could rape and pillage their defense which could really shake their foundation.

These are kids who are highly regarded prospects with pro-ready frames on them already. They've already won a beanpot, HEA Crown, National Championship and got to play outdoors at Fenway Park. Really, that's a long 3 years to wait around for when your only real accomplishments are things you've already done....and you know the scouts are going to point that out.
When you can achieve all your NCAA goals in one year and get a jump start on your pro career....you're going to take it. You can return to school at any age, you only have a certain window to play hockey at a high level.
And we saw how beatable Muse can be even with those big boys in front of him. Not too many teams can let in 6 goals in the conference championship and 7 in regionals and walk away with both crowns. And sure those speedy little guys will be back, but with no big bodies around to protect them from other teams rattling their cage every chance they get.....as long as your goalie is having an above average night, and your d-men are playing as tight and physical as possible, BC becomes very beatable in more of those track meet style games.
Their D taking a hike could really be their kryptonite. If they don't, well sure, I'll put my money down on BC early...but for a team defined by their offense and Muse.....their D could really make or break how far they go next year.

Nick, please stop with all your repetitive hillbilly BS, it's getting old. We understand that you're obviously superior to us in every possible way.
You guys should listen to Nick, none of those guys are going anywhere. BC is the best program in D1 hockey and has been for years. Everyone else is a wannabe. The only weakness at BC is the goalie and the guy has 2 ringsThey don't need a goalie like Jimmy Howard, they control the game anyway
