Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Maybe you can have another thread in your name soon. That must be a record or something.

Yes, seeing a UVM fan cry about me by starting a thread in my name was hilarious. Was that you or grantfan that started that thread?

It's pretty funny, with the Kentucky Derby this weekend, this race to be the dumbest Hockey East poster just materialized when GoUNH and GoMaine24 showed up on a mission to unseat you from the throne. One person, each representing a hillbilly state. To be honest, they are beating you out right now, jcarter, but it's no surprise given how slow elephants are.

And forget about the bestiality jokes with the other two!!!!!! The possibilities are endless...

A.) I think it was Cat lover actually but I maybe wrong on that one.
B.) You have an infatuation with horses?
B2) They have no chance of unseating me.
C.) this actually made me laugh. Kudos, dum dum.

I got neg rep because A.) was actually Grantfan??? Seriously, did you not notice that I said "I think" and I "maybe wrong"

Dooooooche Bag BC posters.

Again, you miss the point. This is throwing generalizations and past events (of both BC and other former NCAA champs) at the wall and hoping it sticks. The point, once again, is that this specific BC team, which you know absolutely nothing about appears to be coming back for another year. The people I know close to the situation and from reading BC publications like the Heights have indicated people like Cross and Kreider and Hayes and others are very very likely coming back.

Yep...I also remember when they said the same things, and wrote the same things all offseason 2005 about Jimmy Howard. Even named him alternate captain, and he didn't have a national championship to hang his hat on.

Things change.

Oh, so now you're going to focus on this specific BC team and admit they don't compare to performances like that of Orpik, Kobasew, and Gerbe. Well, thank God you're admitting you're a nitwit. I bet you don't even realize how dumb you are.

My favorite thing about this is how you deleted the part that explained the point of that sentence. You'd do alright working for a tabloid. They disassemble people's words to manipulate what they said all the time!

Boy, you do an awful lot of name calling for someone older than 12! :p

Nice to see you have backtracked and now you claim you don't know their goals. I never claimed I did. Nor did I try to use it as support for why a total fantasy was "fairly realistic."

I never claimed I did....nor did I ever say it was going to happen. You put those words in my mouth. Thank you for that.

But you appear to know exactly whats going to happen or not happen without a doubt in your mind...so you must have a better handle on these kids goals, so I was hoping you could elaborate.

Must be all that scoop from your top secret insiders close to the situation. Must be nice to be so important!!

It has to do with someone (you) having diarrhea of the keyboard and sharing a whimsical fantasy and passing it off as "fairly realistic" and supporting your "speculation" with nothing of substance that was based in reality and you were called out on it. Man up, admit your fantasy was stupid, and move on. It's that simple.

And you say I keep repeating the same irrelevant points over and over!!!

You have a nice day.

Aw, shucks. THANKS! :D

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

That was a very, very funny game. The fans had a field day pointing them out above the stands.

Weren't they all named in a huge drug bust around campus?

Ummm, no, Paul Falco, they were not.

It was a funny game seeing so many non-regulars play, and then watching them come back and kick Maine's arse the next night and reel off a decent Alfond winning streak.

My apologies. I'm not as important as Nick, so I don't have enough people close to the situation. That's also why it was posed as a question and not a truth....because I didn't know, and wanted to....and that was a rumor I remember swirling around.

What was it for?

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

the poor mildcats didn't even win the regular season title that year! however, to their credit, they did make a surprise run out of the first round of the HE playoffs - but didn't win that title either, obviously - thanks to a 9 spot that was dropped on them in the semi's. days later, they would be invited to the ncaa tournament, but failed to rsvp in time.

IIRC, Coach Umile told his players not to be in downtown Durham after a Red Sox playoff game -- because it was during the "riot era" at UNH.

Seven players were down there anyway (take note: not drinking, not acting out, but observing the fracas from the sidewalk), and seen by many people. Coach Umile suspended them for the one game.

That was a very wierd game, indeed.

Edit: Just read the article; I had the time of year wrong, but I believe the general facts are correct in that they were downtown when they had been told not to be.

Why doesn't Hockey East change its playoff format. I'm thinking of two possible changes. One would give the top seed a bye to the semi finals and will play the lowest seed that advances. The other idea would to have a play in game on Thursday at the Garden. This would potentially make more revenue for Hockey East. Would the Garden be for this though?

Personally I like the playoffs right now the way they are.

Giving anyone a bye all the way to the semifinals is just crazy IMO. They have to win just 2 games to win the tournament. That's just too easy.

I would imagine renting the place out for one night is a hefty cost and they wouldn't sell many tix for a game on a weeknight, especially if it was like UMass Lowell vs. Merrimack. I doubt it would profitable at all in the Garden.

Keep things the way they are IMO!

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

I like the playoffs like they are now too. That's why the last few weekends were so exciting. Sure Providence was out of the picture, but the battle to get into the playoffs was awesome. Having every team make it would be anticlimactic.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Hold the phone, Nick....

Do we agree??

The playoff system our way is the most legit in college hockey.

the article is dated feb 2, 2006........ what was the score of the red sox playoff game that nite???

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

No JC I believe you are the one who likes to start threads with peoples names in them.

I didn't start that thread. Believe me I would take credit it for it if I did. But also didn't think it was Grantfan......and like I said, I could have been mistaken. My apologies as it clearly wasn't you. However, it also wasn't me.

In fact, I have never started a thread with a persons name in it. Not sure where that is coming from but you are mistaken as well in your belief.

Because I need to watch two more PC games like I need a hole drilled into my head.
