No way should the Hobey be given to a candidate that drops out of school early to sign a pro contract. What kind of message would that send.:rolleyes:


It is admirable the way Hobey candidate Matt Fratten, who had no scholarship, worked two jobs and took out student loans for tuition and school expenses. Frattin obviously values his college education and it shows extreme loyalty to the school and to his teammates. His hard work on and off the ice and his extreme loyalty should be rewarded. The other two candidates packed their bags and left school already.

The last Sioux player to win the Hobey Baker award returned back to school after winning the award. http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/9NCAA/2007/duncan_0530.htm :p

Instead of signing a pro contract his junior year, he become the UND team Captain his his senior year. ;)

So has it been settled yet.
Is Matt Frattin just the hardest working college hockey player at UND? (No easy accomplishment!)
Or is he the hardest working hockey player in all of the universe? :rolleyes:

Ok maybe second hardest working in all of hockey:
Former Sioux player, now Blackhawks Captain, Jonathan Toews seems to have his hands full trying to lead this years stripped down version of the Blackhawks back into contention. :D

You guys do know there are plenty of hockey players out there with student loans, right?

I have student loans. I should win the Hobey. First woman ever. Hey, I've never been arrested AND I have good grades. I'm a raging ***** though, so that might not work in my favour.

OMG!!! Let's launch a full investigation into every Hobey candidates "checkered past"!!!!:eek:

Frattin may have commited the crime of underage drinking while in college, twice in fact!!!! :eek:

All the candidates may have drank alcohol, had sex with a woman they were not married to, listened to rock & roll music (tool of the devil), and may have gotten some parking or traffic tickets!!! :eek:

Oh wait, this is college students we are talking about not applicants for sainthood. :p

Now, now...EVERY UND student gets parking tickets. I think I got two by my second semester up there...and I didn't even have a car!!
