Where's my copy of Stripes?
Don't laugh to hard. Sometimes it's reality. Have been stopped TWICE by border patrol on the I-87 Northway in the middle of nowhere not far from the High Peaks rest stop. That is like 100 miles south of the actual border. They appear to have a regular spot check stop there. They stop all traffic on the free way, ask for identification and destination. When they are out, there is agents asking questions, and plenty more with guard dogs and fatigues on the side of the road. Welcome to the land of the Free, or is it the Home of the Brave.?
Harvard vs. Yale.
Yeah, well...you have that funny accent. "
Big help from Dartmouth to draw Cornell.
With wins over Brown and Yale, Harvard would be Ivy co-champs with Cornell, Harvard's first Ivy title since 2009.
Congrats to Cornell Big Red -- 4th Ivy League Champions in a row!
You mean co-champs, right?
Well, that's worst case. But Cornell was presented with the Ivy League trophy last night and Harvard still needs 2 more wins to earn co-champ title.
That is simply ridiculous to present Cornell with a trophy as the sole winner of the Ivy League when Harvard still has two more league games. Like it is some foregone conclusion that Cornell should own the title outright. You guys actually did us a favor by doing that trophy presentation. Will give us extra motivation for the playoffs.
Why? No one said they were the sole winner, but they can get no worst than co-champions. I am sure that Harvard will get the same if (when) they beat Brown and Yale.
You're the one who said "co-champs, right?" I was merely pointing out that Harvard isn't co-champs yet. (Although i would be the 1st to say I am quite sure they will be).
I get that we aren't co-champs yet although I fully expect we will be. And I understand that it was Cornell's Senior Day and the final home game. But it is rubbing it in the face of another team that has a shot of being co-champs. It would be like our men's basketball team having a trophy presentation as Ivy League champs prior to Princeton's final game against Penn which they traditionally play after the final regular season weekend. We just wouldn't do it until we knew for sure that we were the sole champs. Co-champs is just that; co-champions, not the sole owner of the championship and the trophy that goes with it.
Actually, I think Harvard men's basketball did celebrate the 2011 title before Princeton won its share.I get that we aren't co-champs yet although I fully expect we will be. I see no problem with a team being recognized on senior day at home as winning an Ivy Title, even if it is or might be shared with another team. Ti is a way to recognize the accomplishments of the team in front of their fans. It would have been different, if the potential co-champs would have been the opponent that day to witness it, but they were not.
If it had not been brought up here, no one on the other team would have noticed.
As a home team you do want to recognize a team's accomplishments in front of the home fans.
