Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Okay so if we don't turn it around five on five, we are going to get our doors blown off. UMD is big, tough and they own the boards right now. They should be up 3-1. We need to force them to chase us. We're spending way too much time in our own zone.

Gotta get the feet moving quicker.

Easier said than done. This is an "old style" East/West matchup. I saw this all the time in the 70s and 80s. They beat you up, slow you down and wear you out. Very difficult to possess the puck. I saw it with BU in the regionals. One and done. Duluth is cycling and getting multiple chances/rebounds.

agreed. Gotta make em pay with PP goals otherwise...

Harvard will win a bad rebound

Wonder if it is possible to turn melroses microphone off and let him think it isn't? Ratings would sky rocket

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Heartbreaking. Two weak *** goals and UMD goes to the championship game. And we hit the crossbar with nine seconds left. No words.

Five on five, we never could get any consistent pressure. We had some looks but not enough to generate constant pressure. UMD's size and speed was something we didn't really see this year. It took us a long time before we started to exert ourselves in this game. But I thought it was a pretty even game from late in the second all the way through until the end.

Madsen had a great run in the month of March but tonight he has to look in the mirror because both goals should have been stopped. He made some great saves; unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

Amazing year nonetheless. A Beanpot championship, the Cleary Cup, an ECAC tournament championship and our first NCAA tournament wins in 23 years. Plus we swept Cornell and beat BC. That's always nice.

Many thanks to the seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program. They were the catalyst for returning us to national prominence. I wish them the very best in their future endeavors.

Can't think about anything else at the moment. Tough one to absorb.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Much longer email tomorrow, but I am **** proud of that effort and this team. Class!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Thank you to this senior class. You brought us from probably the lowest point in program history to the highest in a really long time. In soccer parlance, we picked up a quadruple, and we left it all out there for this game. Helluva season even if a bit of a gut punch at the end, but we'll be back.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Great season for you guys. Congrats to your seniors on super college careers.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

I didn't get to see much from Harvard this season, but you guys had one heck of a team. Tough way to lose on that stage, but Duluth is a very solid team (North Dakota got beat by them 5 times this season). Good luck next season, and I'm sure Harvard will be back in this spot sooner than later. Be very proud of your team, and to echo some of the other posters...great season.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Madsen looked shaky on a lot of the saves he did make, let alone the two soft goals.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Heartbreaker of a loss. Too bad that quick whistle on an obvious loose puck and goal prevented Harvard from taking the lead. Key point was when Donato broke his skate and was off the ice until the final goal. Don't understand why Harvard didn't use their timeout until after the goal. They could have stalled a bit before calling it just as a face off would be taken and used it to get Donato back before the goal.
