Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

So much for my prediction that Harvard would win this game easily! At 3-0 it should have been except for a lucky bounce then all the sudden the game is 3-2. Harvard was never the same after that. It seems as though they quit playing, at least their style. Saw lots of individual play instead of letting the puck do the puck, like the past month. No doubt they will get this straightened out before Chicago. Congrats again and also representing the Ivy League and ECAC...and proving student-athletes can get it done as well

Well I think 'quit' is too strong a word to use here. The team definitely did not quit. I think they were a bit shellshocked after the two goals and it might have been prudent for Teddy to call a timeout to get them settled down. Yes, there was individual play but they tried to set some plays as well. Biggest problem they had all weekend was their skating game never really materialized to the point where they forced the other team out of their comfort zone. AF was allowed to play a slow down game that helped them stay in it.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

According to the official stats, faceoffs were 28-23 AF. So while I agree that Harvard needs to do a better job, they weren't as bad as losing 3 out of every 4. It didn't seem as lopsided to me as I watched the game last night.

In the third period, we were losing a bunch of face offs. I don't know how you could not have noticed. The last five minutes or so, AF won what seemed like a majority of them. I counted five in a row at one point so I think the stats link you offered may be a bit skewed in Harvard's favor.

Or maybe it was pretty even up until then and AF pulled ahead in the last five minutes.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

A big shout out to the Friends of Harvard Hockey - thank you so much for the pre game festivities both nights. Really added to the experience and we're grateful for the munchies! Had a chance to meet up with the Marino family and very much enjoyed speaking with them about John's career so far. And his twin brother is Harvard's videographer!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

At the game last night over the PA, they kept announcing the NCAA Ticket Exchange (http://www.ncaa.com/exchange) service as the 'official' way to get better seats from people who have them but won't be going. So there's that. Good luck and have a great time! I wish I could go so you'll have to do some cheering for me.

Thanks. That area/site kept timing out on me last night, before I could even see anything. But I will keep trying!

Maybe. That plus the fact it was a one goal game and my stomach was tied up in knots so every little thing made it seem a whole lot worse than it probably was at that moment. Or something like that.

Totally with you there. There's a difference between faceoffs and BIG faceoffs and H seemed to be losing them when they needed them the most.

Chicago Logistics:

Looking at flying into O'Hare and getting a hotel more downtown near the loop somewhere (for non-hockey sites, fun). Blue Line out to the Arena looks pretty easy, and it looks like for many games, events, there is a dedicated bus route out and back?

We'll check out all the museums, planetarium, Navy Pier, zoo, etc. Deep dish pizza and some beef maybe. Other not to be missed ideas? Traveling with my 12 year old.

Thanks!

Cannot help on the rest but a few years ago K-School sent me to meet with people in the Chicago area and I had an extra day to sightsee. If you are with your child look into the Museum of Science and Industry. Great place with a kid. I seem to recall tickets for an adult were around $20 with something extra for some of the exhibits. two things that were extra but worth it to me were

1 - A german sub captured intact by the USN during WW II.

2 - coal mine - The museum is built over a coal seam and in the early years the museum has heated by coal dug out of the mine under the museum.

Whatever you do there have fun in Chicago.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Congrats on making the FF !!! Will be cheering for you :)

Thanks and really thanks to all ECAC fans for their support. Sorry you guys won't be joining us. That score blew our minds when we saw it. I knew Penn State was good but cripes, 10 goals? Yeeesh!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Good luck in Chicago, no matter how this shakes out there are going to be four VERY good offensive teams there. Team defense and goalie play will be the difference.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Congrats and Good Luck Hahvaard! I had you picked to beat DU 4-3 in the finals all along. Please make me proud, Nostadamus-like! More info to come later!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

those w/ kids.. dont forget the chicago aquarium.. great aquarium for kids & grown ups. gluck again Crimson.

I second this. Shedd Aquarium is great. The Natural History museum is also fantastic. Largest T Rex skeleton in the world.

Good luck!

Re: Harvard Crimson 2016-2017

Congrats on the Frozen Four. Rooting for Harvard all the way.

Where is bothman. And is he going to Chicago?

I am here...pinching myself (think that moment in the movie "Weird Science" where they created the girl on the computer and suddenly she shows up in the flesh). Although I fully believed in this team prior to last weekend, given the past decade of NCAA results, I'm not sure if even the most faithful of Harvard fans could be reasonably confident.

More to come, but this season has been just unreal across so many fronts.

Bothman, Seeing as you are in San Fran I would presume you did not get to any of the Yale playoff games. When I attended, I received a door gift of a very nice 2' wide by 3' high Harvard Hobey Baker banner listing all of the recipients over the years. . If you want it. send me your email and I will get it to you. It's like having a bad relative in the house and I need to get rid of it lol. shoot me an email at Ltsatch@yahoo.com. If you don't want it, first come first serve to the next guy. Lets try this link *******http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/attachment.php?attachmentid=64086&d=1490658264********
