Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

It's not just Harvard. I was always taught you finish what you start. I get that he can come back and finish down the road but he got bad advice from the Canadiens. Pro teams don't care about the individual. They care about wins and losses. Louis simply wasn't ready for the pro game after one season. All of us could see it.

He had the classic pedigree of a player that would be so much better served by college. He was 6'0'' 175lbs. He needed time in the weight room and not on the ice. Glad he is owning it, but I feel badly for him. Kid doesn't make the World Jr team, gets bad advice from the Canadians, and now he is playing in a second tier league. Coulda, woulda, shoulda....

Players that leave Harvard early don't have a very good track record at the next level...

6) Kerfoot needs to shoot the puck more. Way too unselfish out there and there are times where he has a clean look but opts to try and thread the needle and suddenly, the opponent is going the other way

So he's playing the same as every Devils player ever then. Good he can slot right in with the rest of our non-shooters.

We have our #1 goalie and it is Madsen is it by a landslide. I think Lackey will get it together but simply stated, he can not control rebounds. Clarkson's first 2 goals were the result of him not taking care of rebounds.

Sorry to disagree but I wouldn't want to count on Madsen to win a playoff game if our backs were against the wall or if it was a one and done. I know he performed well in the two tournaments but the consistency isn't there as far as I'm concerned.

Aaron Israel and Jesse Lane come to mind. Craig MacDonald left early and had a few good years in the NHL. I know I'm missing a few others.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Tomorrow night should be easier with Clarkson coming to town
The problem is that there are no "easy" teams in the ECAC anymore. Brown, Clarkson, Colgate, Princeton are all very good teams and are just getting better. A short while ago, we had 5 teams in the top 10 pairwise. Getting to ECAC league play used to mean getting a break in the action. No more.

I think Madsen is a better goalie than any one we have had as of late. I think he is better than Michalek. He is humongous and takes up so much of the net and I think that effects opponents. We have a goalie coming in next year from the USHL, but for now, Madsen is our way forward.

100% correct and Clarkson delivered that message with authority. Colgate will be a classic example of that and if Harvard spends too much time looking at records and the PWR ranking, then Colgate will walk over them much like Clarkson did.

Looking forward to taking on you guys tomorrow night. Please make sure Vesey misses the bus :)

Well he didn't but his goal actually didn't really matter all that much. Looks like the boys took care of business tonight and got back to playing the way they should to put away an opponent. Faceoffs are still a problem.

On to Cornell. Would love to come away with two points tomorrow. Won't be easy but we owe them.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

You're catching us at the right time, I'll say that. :(

Maybe, but I think Cornell's forecheck is going to give Harvard fits - the Harvard D has really struggled since the Minnesota tournament. If Harvard can effectively break the puck out of its zone and come at Cornell with speed, then I think the reverse is true.

Kep, I honestly don't think there is ever a good time to catch Cornell where Harvard is concerned. You guys could be oh for the season and it still wouldn't matter. Games with the Big Red are always a Holy War.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Good game with you guys last night. Could have gone either way IMHO, but your forwards are so fast, we just couldn't keep up at some points in the game. One penalty for us = one goal by you. We hit a pipe and had a near breakaway, but it was not to be. Good luck in Ithaca tonight.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

6-2, that is nice
Always nice to beat Cornell and especially nice to beat them in Ithaca.
