Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Attending again this year, no optimism, but if Madsen plays well it will be a reason for hope as the season winds down. I'm not worried about Harvard scoring, but how they handle adversity, and if they do have a lead in the third period, can they finish well.

I think the BU game was a real wake up call and as painful as the last 5 mins of the 3rd period were, big time coaching moments came out of that. Now granted BU is much more talented that Cornell, but in Ithaca, Harvard really bolted the hatch and kept Cornell to the perimeter......effectively finishing the game as one would draw it up.

I have not had a good feeling on the Beanpot for many years, but I feel very good for tomorrow. I think this team matches up very well with BC. If Harvard's D can play smart and consistent (don't need anything spectacular), then I think Harvard can win. This is one of the few teams that can throw out a set of forwards that can outdepth and outskate the Eagles.

Sigh.

Death, taxes, and us disappointing in the Beanpot.

What stud is coming in for Northeastern next year? Eichel and White in back to back years.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Men against boys. This was not a 3-2 game. We were outclassed, outhit, outskated, outhustled, outshot, you name it, we were thoroughly outclassed in this game. What a joke. I wish we would just petition to drop out of this tournament. We're not competitive by any measure (23 years, two Beanpot finals). Let UMass Lowell take their shot. Tournament would be more competitive and probably a lot more interesting for the fan base. We played two tournaments already this year. We can add another out of conference game in January.

Well ..there goes my predicted Beanpot champ for this yr..
like the color guys said.. Harvard played well & worked hard.. just didn't play well enough and work hard enough this gm..

Not that bad skate79. That was a great game and hard fought by both teams for 60:00. H will be fine.
And just think. . . you'll get another shot at BU next Monday. :D

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Congrats to BC. They were the better team tonight and played a team game, particularly in the 3rd when they effectively shut Harvard down and prevented any zone time in the last couple of minutes.

Another disappointing loss for Harvard. The effort was ok but the top line looked gassed, especially in the 3rd. Perhaps more 3rd/4th line would have paid off later in the game.

Very similar result last year in consolation when BC scored last 2 goals of game to win 3-2......

Did Vesey dress in the game? You can't beat teams like BC when your race horse is out to pasture.

Different outcome if he shows up.

Harvard will be fine.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Harvard had a lot of guys tonight that wanted to just keep the puck on their stick, never works. D wasn't very good, a lot of standing and watching.

Did Vesey dress in the game?

Yes, he was one of the starting 5. I thought you guys had all the momentum after Donato's goal, but when you kill zero percent of the penalties you commit, it's not going to do you any favors.

I realize this. I was being facetious.

Harvard will be fine. Time to focus on Brown and Yale, neither of which will be easy games (particularly the game at The Whale).

Thought a lot of players played selfish and tried to do much. Too much stick-handling and not enough tape to tape passes.

And hopefully some learnings on those 2nd period penalties. Those were some soft calls (especially the 2nd one), but you can't take those unnecessary penalties against top teams.
