Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Unfortunate ending to a season that started out so promising. In the two biggest games of the year, against the best competition we faced, we couldn't rise to the challenge. We fell behind QPac by 3 goals just 7 mins into the 2d, with shots and play essentially even at that point. We fall behind BC 3 goals just 2 mins into 2d on 12 shots. Actually outplaying and outshooting BC at that point. You can't fall behind good teams 3-0, with some pretty mediocre goals at that, and expect to win. Both games were essentially over at that point. See a trend?

thought he was drafted by Nashville- his brother was drafted by Toronto
Have his rights been traded?

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Representatives for Jimmy Vesey today informed NSH their client will be exercising his right to unrestricted free agency on Aug. 15. #TSN

draft picks are not restricted by rules on how much $$$ they can get, are they? is that just in the 3 major sports and not part of the nhl entry draft?

Picking games is not my speciality like BC basketball players, actually that's fixing games, sorry Henry

I focus on facts
Off to Toronto, exactly like I said months ago

All entry level contracts are exactly the same money wise
Only thing that matters is system, roster and ability to excel and play up vs down, bigger monthly check

Rover taught you well.

so #1 pick like mcdavid gets X and a rookie free agent like vesey will get X? that doesn't see right.

Bad move IMO. Great kid, great student, great school. Gonna struggle as a pro, needs all the support he can get. Should have signed with preds. Best chance for success. We will see.

This isn't China. Living the Anerican dream which he has earned through 4 years of college and a soon to be degree to boot.

Any father would be proud and anyone who says otherwise probably doesn't have children.

Not sure how support from preds would not exist elsewhere.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2015-2016 - All things Bright and Beautiful

Moral of this story for NHL teams is not to blow picks higher than the 6th or 7th round on Ivy league kids. More often than not they are going 4 years to school. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The only reason to draft an ivy league kid any higher is the Ryan Donato situation where he was talented and drafted by the local team.

Not really... They drafted you, you went to their camps, they treated you very well, they offer you too 6 ice straight thru the playoffs, class org

I do agree that if you went D1 vs Major junior it's ok to wait and go free agent
The whole hiring dad as scout summer before seems a little like tampering, I am sure a good Harvard lawyer could build a case for it.....

Not going to struggle as a pro
Pro hockey is better for him than the bowling alley known as college hockey
Much more skill game, guys are always where they are supposed to be, not a ton of average players chasing everyone 100 miles an hour with sticks up and running everyone

Good luck to him, he did college the right way, zero drama, totally embraced the culture and super teammate and player
He represented what was good about D1

Why? These kids have few choices until they hit UFA. Especially given that the $ is going to be the same for him regardless of location, let him pick the best spot for him.
