Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

I know the uptick in ticket prices has an effect on the playoff game attendance at Appleton. Students don't get in free for the playoffs either. I don't know what ticket prices are at Harvard games or if their students get in free normally, but this could have an effect on things as well.

Not to the extent that attendance would drop that much. Ticket prices were the same as regular season for non students. I don't know what the deal is for students these days. I just think that b-ball is dominating all facets of Harvard promotion these days and the hockey program has clearly taken a back seat.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

There was a lot of hype for the men's b-ball game against Yale and it is understandable given what was on the line. But when you think about how we drew over 2000 fans for a weeknight game between Christmas and New Years when the students were off campus, it makes you wonder what's going on. Can't the University pump up the fact that we are in the first round of the playoffs at home?? Heck women's lacrosse will probably draw more fans today than the game tonight. Sad really.

Well, with that attendance I am surprised Brown didn't feel more at home. No better tonight according to the stats. I'm guessing it will be packed in New Haven. Really can't pick a winner in that series right now. Just like Union, I don't care what happened in the RS this time of year.

Students are out of town so tickets may be easier. I would jump on them early though.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

How about an injury report. Is everyone healthy? Was someone injured during the Brown series?

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Kerfoot. Upper body injury. Status unknown.

I think we will see him vs Yale. What a performance from Blackwell.

I know there is no reason to be confident this weekend given what has transpired this season vs Yale, but I feel very good about this weekend. Call me crazy!

I think it is safe to say he is done for the season. He was wearing a sling around his shoulder during the second and third periods watching the game from the stands. Given his history, I don't see him playing this coming weekend.

On a more positive note, Blackwell looked awesome and will be a force for the Crimson going forward. Putting Criscuolo at center leaves Tyler Moy to center the third line giving us offense on all three lines. Which we will need next weekend.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

I just got tickets to Saturday and Sunday if needed. Getting to New Haven by 7pm on a Friday is a little tough. Blackwell was so much fun to watch out there. Hart also looked like he was getting more comfortable on the first line in Saturday's game.

I noticed something, though, that works against ECAC tournament attendance at Bright. That Sunday morning when the final standings and seed assignments had become clear, I looked at tickets both for Harvard at home round 1 and Yale at home round 2. In the case of Harvard, 100% of Bright's seats were available, every one - I could have bought any seat in the house. Clearly season ticket holders did not have their seats given to them, or even held for them. When I looked at Yale tickets, something like 80%-90% were sold, including the huge blocks on the home side. It seemed clear to me (correct me if I am wrong) that Yale season ticket holders already had their home ice ECAC tournament seats. I have no idea what other programs do, but I wonder if Harvard should consider this small reward for their season ticket holders, many of whom clearly did not take the extra step to buy ticket for the Brown series.

Being a Yale season ticket holder I can provide some insight. Yale sent the email below to season ticket on Feb 18. I thought it was a great idea on their part to get going on the playoff ticket sales as early as possible.

Starting today, all Yale men's hockey season ticket holders have the ability to purchase seats for any ECAC Tournament Games played at Ingalls Rink. Season ticket holders have the ability to purchase tickets through your online account. Additionally, fans can call the Yale Athletics Ticket Office at 203-432-1400 to order the tickets.

Your season tickets are on hold for you, currently existing in an online Offer.

To purchase your seats for ECAC Tournament Games:
1) Log into your account at https://athletics.ticketing.yale.edu and Accept your Offer.
* For step-by-step instructions on accepting your offer, please refer to: https://athletics.ticketing.yale.edu/online/article/ECACOffer

2) Call the Yale Athletics Ticket Office at 203-432-1400

Important Information:
Currently, Yale sits in 3rd place in the League Standings. You can check the standings HERE. Our office will send follow-up emails as important information is updated.

Scenarios & Information
If Yale finishes in the Top-8 of the regular season league standings, Ingalls Rink will host a best-of-three series on only one weekend. These tickets will be valid for either weekend. If you can only attend if the series is played on one particular weekend, please wait to accept your offer - these tickets will be on hold for you through the end of the day on Wednesday, March 4.

Top-4 Finish = First-Round Bye, Quarterfinal Series at Home|
If Yale finishes in the Top-4 of the regular season league standings, Ingalls Rink will host a best-of-three series on March 13, 14, and 15.

No. 5 - 8 Finish = First-Round Series at Home, Travel for Quarterfinal Series |
If Yale finishes in the 5 - 8 position of the regular season league standings, Ingalls Rink will host a best-of-three series on March 6, 7, and 8.

If Yale finishes outside the Top-8 of the regular season league standings, Ingalls Rink will not host a home series, and will travel for the first-round series.

This year, fans have the ability to pay for all three games up-front. If Yale does not host a home series, then your order will be completely refunded. If the Sunday game (Game 3) is not played in a particular series, your order for that game will be completely refunded.

Currently, the games are scheduled in our calendar for March 6, 7, and 8. At this point, tickets purchased will be valid for either weekend (if the date changes). If you can only attend if the series is played on one particular weekend, please wait to place your order until the League standings are final.

Deadline to Order
Your seats will be on hold for purchase up to Wednesday, March 4 at 5:30pm. After that time, unpurchased seats will be opened for sale to the general public.

Yeah that's absurd. Sell playoff tickets at the beginning of the year with the season ticket and hope you play a home series. If you don't refund the money or apply it to the person's balance for the next year.

That's how they do it at BC. The tickets are included in the season ticket package, so if BC hosts a Hockey East 1st round or quarter final series the tickets are included. If BC doesn't host a series you are refunded the money.

Same at QU. If no home playoff series, it gets applied to next years tickets or you can request a refund.

I called Monday morning to get tickets for Saturday/Sunday (Friday I went to basketball and my wife, who is a hockey nut but not a BB fan was out of town). The ticket office rep asked me if I wanted my usual seats, so I suppose if someone had called earlier and asked for my location they might have given them to the caller. No biggie, there was plenty of room at Bright, Saturday night, even with the band there.

A few years ago, Killorn's last year, I think, when the first round series went to three games, the ticket office only sold the first two games and the third had to be bought at the ticket office, because they could not refund the game if it wasn't played according to what I was told.

Really happy to see Blackwell playing well; it must have been tough for him sitting in the stands watching his team play for so long. The kid always hustles every shift. I am a little more optimistic after this weekend that the Crimson will play well this weekend, drank some of Skate's Kool-Aid.

Looks like there are a lot of tickets for game 3, if we make it there.

i gave up the Kool-Aid a long time ago. Too many cavities. :)

I do think the team will play well this weekend but I'd feel a lot better if McNally were healthy. Our D just isn't quite good enough yet.

It would feel so good to knock off the Eli this weekend especially where the men's b-ball team has the 'play-in' game on Saturday against Yale. Make it a Yale sweep I say.
