Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

McNally, Malone, and Kerfoot are all hurt. They have not played in Harvard's last 3 games and Kerfoot has been out since Lowell. Malone was hurt for the first part of the year and was recently back before getting injured again. No offense to SLU, but with those guys in the lineup, I am confident that Saturday's result would be different.

That said, Hockey is as much about depth as it is talent. Injuries are a part of the game.

Skate79 - Do you expect these guys to be back for Cornell on Friday?

No word on whether or not they will return for Cornell. Blackwell apparently is itching to play but they are taking a cautious approach with him. My sense is that they want to make sure that all four players are ready for February and March as we will need them if we are going to make a run at the Frozen Four.

Watching the Cornell game on IVY TV. Injury Report? How many are you missing for this one?

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Kerfoot, Malone still out. McNally started, but just came out after a tangle/clutching his right knee. Not good.

According to the recap, we played with a short bench last night - 16 skaters. This can't continue. Teddy has to show some confidence in his team by playing the guys who haven't played much this year. Colgate won't be any easier tonight.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

It's gut check time for this Harvard team that is in the midst of a 1-3 spell. We all know they are missing several high-end guys and the McNally injury is very worrisome if it is serious, but great teams find ways to win in these situations.

It will be interesting to see how they respond to a gut-wrenching loss to a very mediocre Cornell team. Colgate is a very talented team that has been mired in the same situation that Harvard now finds itself it - trying to find ways to win with several guys injured.

I want to see some desperation from Harvard tonight and do the little things that translate into wins.

Anyone know if Kerfoot and Malone even made the trip up North? Any chance of either/both of those guys suiting up tonight. This is a Top 5 team when healthy as they went toe-to-toe with the best in Hockey East and came up victorious....all of those wins on the road. So I have no doubt what this team can do and perhaps that is the strategy. Play it safe, gut out some wins, and get ready for a late season run as key guys regain their health.

Cornell is better than mediocre IMO. They have one line a 2-3 D that, if they play well, they can beat a lot of teams. Having seen both recently, Harvard is much better, but Cornell is still a big, strong, steady team that plays solid defense and has a few guys that can score.

Colgate should be short-handed too. They can play racehorse hockey. I expect that will be a dandy of a game even though Starr is a horrible barn that can suck the energy right out a game 'Meehan' style.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

This about says it all and it sounds like Esposito out as well. No one is going to feel sorry for us so it's time to buckle down and grind out some results. We need Michalek to step up his game and steal a couple here. The McNally injury sounds discouraging.

Be interesting to see what lines Donato throws out there given that we have3 of the top 6 forwards down by my count.

I thought McNally was a senior? It sounds like Blackwell is pretty well done. We had a guy like that in Jared Keller and that was a big part of what drove Joe Marsh to retire. It sucks, but when a guy can't shake off the cobwebs it's time to use the other gifts he has in life. If he comes back, I certainly wish him well.

We were last night, in any case. And we have our own injury problems, as I'm sure everyone does.

Vesey is a wonderful player. As long as he is in the lineup, Harvard is dangerous.

McNally is a senior. One of 3 (Michalek and Everson) on the team.

Sounds like Kerfoot, Malone, McNally, Jaw, and Esposito out tonight. Harvard playing with 5D. Brutal!

Blackwell is not done. He looks and feels very good and is aiming for a return very soon. The author of the article isn't privy to what is happening with the team. I saw Colin last weekend and he looks very good. And he is confident on his return.

Pretty amazing that we can blow out Colgate in their building with all these injuries. With Union coming to Bright-Landry, one can only hope we get some of these players back next Friday. I'm not hopeful for McNally in the short term but if he can make it back by the Cornell-Colgate weekend at B-L, that would help enormously.

The WHRB crew indicated that they think Kerfoot back this week. They did not comment on the others.

Real gutsy win tonight. Vesey proved why he is the ECAC POY. I've long thought that next year is Harvard's real shot, but if Vesey keeps this up, I'm not sure he comes back next year. I hope that I am wrong about that.

That would be a huge blow if he chose to leave but I could understand why Nashville would want him. They have some young talent that is maturing and he would be a great addition up front. Here's hoping he stays. It's a treat to see him play with Criscuolo and Kerfoot (when healthy).

That's an impressive win. Congrats! Colgate is a good team with a good Goaltender. They are shorthanded too but that wasn't close which I thought it would be. At this point, I don't think there is anyone close to Vesey for POTY. Maybe Anas but I'd take Vesey any day of the week over him and I think every coach would. I hold my breath every time he is on the ice.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Teddy Hart (Exeter) has de-committed ft tom Providence and is considering Harvard and Dartmouth. He is Brian Hart's younger brother.
