Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Tough loss last night. We barely won and would not have won if you were at full strength. Sorry to hear about McNally. What else can go wrong? It was clear from looking at Harvard's starting lineup that no one was back. Good luck on Monday against B.U. The whole ECAC is pulling for you or should be since a win would lift the whole league. IMO this year's Crimson, at full strength, the best team in College Hockey. There is still plenty of time for you to get back on the steamroller.

I feel the same way. We would be a much different team with McNally, Kerfoot, Malone and Esposito back in the lineup. Even a healthy Blackwell. Not having McNally for the rest of the season is a killer. We just have to hope for the best and see what happens. I'm not all that optimistic going forward but maybe we'll have something left for the tournament. If we can avoid having to play that first weekend.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Last night's team was missing 6 regulars. 3 of its top 6 forwards (top 2 centers) and 2 of its top 4 defense. I can tell you right now that if Union was missing a similar allotment of players, Harvard would have won going away.

But that's neither here nor there. No one is going to feel sorry for us and no one should. Injuries are part of hockey. But we know what this team is when healthy - Likely ECAC champion, definite NCAA team, and a chance at a banner with some puck luck and good fortunes.

With what Harvard has now, and I hate to say this, they are a mid-tier ECAC team. They are probably a team that gets a first round home ice series. The record over the last several weeks speak for itself.

This stretch has hurt. No question there. Especially for a team and a fan base that has suffered as we have over the last several years.

With the current roster, am I confident against BU on Monday night? Heck no. We have to be realistic. If Malone and Kerfoot are back, do I think we can win? Absolutely!

The silver lining in all of this is that there are guys getting action that normally wouldn't. This team is building some real mettle and as long as they stay positive in spite of some of the uneven results, I think that they will be ok....especially as some of the guys get healthy. It's not going to get easier with a stretch of BU, Yale, and then either BC or Northeastern.

All I can say is that this Harvard fan hasn't had this much fun and so much to cheer for in too many years to count (albeit from the West Coast).

Despite the fact that it was a loss it was a terrific game to watch. Both teams seemed very, very fast. Also a clean game with Union getting 2 minors and Harvard only 1 minor. Very nice to see.

I hope they get a few of the players back. I did not see O'Regan at all last night and there are a few others who did not play who are not among the injured as far as I know.

Whatever has happened this year, Teddy has gotten the team going in the right direction.

+1 and a lot are underclassmen and will be back next year.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Patrick McNally offered up a couple of tidbits in a recent interview in The Crimson. They are:

1. He indicated that there is a chance he may be back for the ECAC playoffs. If that does happen, then he didn't suffer an ACL tear because there is no way he would make it back that quickly from such an injury.

2. Apparently, he may also have some eligibility left to play next season. I suppose it depends on whether he decides that his injury is serious enough to keep him out the rest of the year; he would probably take a leave from this semester and finish up next year. Not sure how these things are decided but given the severity of the injury, it makes sense for him to think about rehabbing completely in time for the second half of next season. Especially when you consider that most of the team is coming back.

Just some takeaways from the article. In a perfect world, I wish he and the other injured players would heal in time for tomorrow night.

If one more day of healing was all the difference for any of these guys...they're getting it. Beanpot postponed to Tuesday.

Are you really really sure that that is true. The official Beanpot website says noting about that, the official Harvard website says nothing about a schedule change, the BU website has mentioned nothing. Checking Google the postponement is all based on a tweet from Northeastern.

I hope not as I have tickets for the Women's Beanpot on Tuesday.

CHN tweeted it.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Thanks to the St. Lawrence and Union fans who made the trip to Bright and filled what would have been a third empty rink. I understand that Harvard wants to increase attendance since the students don't go, but the little kids who are hanging onto the glass near the Harvard bench during games are risking serious injury. Their parents don't seem to care, so security should keep an eye out there. At one point Saturday a puck went into that area, and someone in back yelled "heads up" after the puck had landed in the seats. If Malcolm Butler had reacted like that, the Seahawks would be Super Bowl champs. They seem to put these families in Section 16 where a few long time season ticket holders sit, who can't see the area of the ice blocked by kids and parents going up and down the aisle. Put them somewhere else so a kid doesn't get hurt hanging onto the glass.

Good Luck tonight Crimson: We all know you are hurting. As noted in the College Hockey News - result looked great, a 5-4 win, but on the ice the result was pretty choppy against a Harvard team that is in all respects to them, decimated to the point they can hardly present a viable roster against a good opponent.

Uh oh, our Princeton tickets are in Section 16 on the glass directly behind the Harvard bench, and we have sat there before. How can we get hurt there? Unless I am misunderstanding the geometry of your caution, I'm not sure I see how a puck can get to those on the glass seats without taking a high tumbling arc, or perhaps hitting off the ceiling. My front row puck catches have all been of the one handed high lob variety. As a rule, I don't think they "put these families there" so much as families just choose their own seats like everyone else.

I agree about the kids. That has been going on for years and I don't think we are the only rink where it happens. But yes, we should take precautions especially with the young 'uns.

Our attendance has been getting better with every home game. Against RPI, a midweek game between Christmas and New Years, B-L had more than 2200 fans. Yes some of them were RPI boosters but ⅔ of the rink were rooting for Harvard.

Awesome. Talk about some depth at Center! Jaw appears to be back as well.

Anyone know if this is on radio? If so what station. 95.3 WHRB seems to be playing classical music! UGH!
