Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

It stinks losing to Yale, but Harvard was the better team. Yale scored on a very soft goal and then an empty netter. Harvard had the far better chances in this game and was certainly the better team.

This is going to be a very fun year (finally!) to be a Harvard fan.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

watched a lot of the game and actually thought it was pretty even. really didn't see a whole lot of great chances from either side despite the high SOG totals.

If it makes you feel better, keep telling yourself that Harvard was the better team. Many folks thought Quinnipiac was the best team in the country headed into the NCAA Tournament in 2013. Turns out they weren't !!!

We will see come March....

Agree. Yale's first goal was a softie but in terms of puck possession and chances, it was pretty even throughout. Where Yale's experience made a difference was in the last five minutes of the game when they pretty much denied Harvard any close looks at Lyons. The Crimson definitely played a strong game and I'm sure they got Yale's attention. Should make for an even better Rivalry on Ice showdown at MSG in January.

For one game (and it was the one that counted obviously), Yale was the better team in 2013. But Quinnipiac was definitely the better team heading into the tournament and to say otherwise is simply foolish. The Bobcats were loaded in 2013 and I would venture to say that few if any saw Yale as a threat for the title that year.

Think about it. If we get Malone, Newell and Blackwell (fingers crossed) back and healthy, how much better will we be come March? I like our chances especially the way Michalek has started the season. Okay, last's night softie wasn't great but every goalie has those moments.

I couldn't tell on TV, but any chance that the puck deflected on the way to the net? Looked like a low shot that maybe went off a Harvard stick and deflected top corner. At least that's how it looked like Michalek was playing it.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

also saw it that way. looked as if michalek was slow to react/anticipated the shot coming in differently.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Harvard far superior team
Can't wait to watch win Beanpot
Key to Harvard is they have added some city kids who give grit and talent.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

maybe, but they weren't last night. you sure are obsessed with the Beanpot though. you weren't touting harvard before under donato, must be the addition of pearl.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Donato brought in Vesey, Tringale, Hart types. Pearl is a big pick up. Always confused why they would ever bring Albie O in there. What was it, 8 teams in 7 years. Really looking to build a program
Looking forward to watching BC in consolation game in front of 82 fans

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

donato has brought in plenty of talent over the years, hasn't meant anything. always squanders it. perhaps pearl will help in the w/l department.

BU seemed to think picking up albie was a big get, no?

let's see you had harvard beating bc in the beanpot but now you have nu beating bc! guess you're taking harvard over bc in consolation game

hadn't teddy always brought in talented kids?
honestly thought any kid that could get past admissions would be foolish not to take their offer. and went you get down to it, any hockey kid should get in before a comparable bball kid. hockey kids in general are trained from the start to be a little more dedicated and serious. it's not like bball players are getting up at 5a for practices when ice time is available.

albie was a good pick up. he was able to find kids that could play and wanted to go to nu for crying out loud. just too bad that the admin there cleaned house and the kids left for other places at the end. albie then went and brought in kids at harvard (though as stated above i could probably do that ;) ) and is now helping restock bu.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Harvard over BC in finals

Albie is very good, needs to stay in one place and help build a program

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Restock BU?
Take Eichel off team, which you will in 6 months and they are 7-10

eichel has been bery, bery good. but the defensemen have been a close 1a to his 1 in the turnaround. gaa is down from 3.20 to 1.73 so far and we have 4 freshman skating. next year with a year under their belt and another year to get bigger/stronger (especially fortunato who really needs it) they will be much much better - not including adding charlie mcavoy to them.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

what would you place odds of austin matthews hearing albie or greeley walk into his home saying "eichel came here for a year and was still picked #1 overall" now that mcdavid is out for a while..... and coming for a year to replace eichel?? :D
